maybe i am missing something but you don't pay the same total for a 2 year contract as you do for a 3 year contract on the same car... 3rd year depreciation is v different to 1st and 2nd years, and also some deals are incentivised only for certain contract lengths.
It's just for comparison mate. To assess the "value" of the deal.
yes
Same with the 18 month ones - divide by 3 multiply by 4 to give an equivalent 2 year cost for comparison
Best to relate to 10kmiles per annum too?

you'll find that some are cheaper than they should be - hence the title of the thread

Hi All,

I'm new to the whole car leasing game and wanted to know if my calculations for the three deals above are correct and your views on the deals?

Many thanks

The E class can be leased for slightly cheaper from Gateway2Lease if you are prepared to wait for a factory order, estimated delivery date November/December

I'd be inclined to suggest that if you're concerned about a £1K financial shortfall, that perhaps leasing a ~£40K car is not entirely appropriate for you. If for any reason your financial circumstances change during a lease, there is no walk away get out clause, and you will likely be liable for all of, or a significant proportion of the outstanding payments.
Whilst I can afford the car I don't want to be paying for both a car and a credit card, it makes absolutely no financial sense! If the case may be that no one will be able to offer me enough to clear the credit card, I will walk away and come back in 6 months time or so
Driving a new car is a luxury weather you buy new or lease new. As we know Leasing can be great and is often cheaper than buying a car and selling it a couple of years later. I lease and recommend it to people although tell them the risk involved. That is once signed a contract you are committed until the end of that contract. If you hit hard times after buying new you can just sell it and repay everything where with leasing if you hand it back early you have to pay the remaining costs which could be all payments or at best 55% (eg with vwfs). If you have debt it’s probably not for you (mortgage aside) You hear of people getting themselves in serious debt by not realising this.
Leasing is great when a good deal comes along but you do need to be mindful that you could get caught out if not financially switched on. thumbup
Unless lucky and get someone to take over your lease in which case forget all above biggrin

It's a 4 year contract and you do not want to own a Mercedes out of warranty

Probably a stupid question, but on a 3 year deal what do you do about an MOT. Presumably unless you return the car a day or two early you will have to mot it?

18 months = 3 x 6 months.
24 months = 4 x 6 months.
6 being the largest common factor of 18 and 24.

So to compare the two pro-rata, he's doing (18 / 3) x 4.

Yeah they've just come back and it is correct. However I've been reading some horrifying results from real world MPG studies and 25-28mpg really puts me off. the problem we have is 30 miles daily commute in traffic but then long, regular trips off 200-400 miles (every 3 weeks we drive 210 miles on a Saturday).
My commute is 10 miles of Milton Keynes (dual carriageway with roundabouts every half mile or so), straight dual carriageway and then some village and country road at the end. It does 30-35 mpg on this depending on traffic.

Most of my other journeys are around Milton Keynes and often less than 5 miles so mpg is terrible on these.

High 30s mpg were easily achievable on the few long motorway runs I've done.

It's never going to have diesel levels of economy but for a 300bhp 4wd petrol car that fits a full family in it's pretty good.

It is when you land on the site but the prices above are adjusted for 36 months / 10,000 miles.

The numbers are based on a C300 which has numerous options: Premium pack, Obsidian black and upgraded 19" alloys which totals to £2,875 in options

Yep, MOT is your responsibility if it falls within the lease term (watch out for 3 year lease + pre-reg offers)

Finally managed to sort a replacement car out for my Golf GTI which expired in July and I am currently informally extending until October maximum
The lease deals in general have been pretty poor the last 6 months or so had to go with it. Bit more than what I wanted to pay really and would have preferred a 24monther but hopefully I wont get bored after 2 years.

Golf R 300 Hatch 5DR DSG in Lapiz Blue (was £650 extra)
10k miles per year
35+9 £333.96
£234 admin fee with Select Car leasing
Total cost per month £414.68

Excess mileage 8.16 pence including vat which I thought was very cheap compared to my previous car through VWFS.
Finance lender is Arval this time. Hopefully they are as leniant on repair prices as VWFS. (Not that the GTI has suffered any damage in the last 2 years).

Select Car leasing were also much more professional, quicker at answering questions and also slightly cheaper per month than the alternative broker I was trying to use (who provided my GTI 2 and half years ago)
Jamie Lowe was the contact at Select.

Hi guys,

Go easy on me, I'm new to leasing and thinking of leasing a Stelvio Nero 200.

Deal on the table is;

3+35 £399 per month.
8k mile p/a
RRP £41,445

I thought the deal was pretty good, what's your thoughts?

Cheers in advance!
about 1.05 on leasing.com

Seems decent.

Doesnt the MOT come around about a month before due to registration dates?

You can book it up to one month before the 3rd anniversary of regeistration.

Why worry about it? You can easily get an MOT done for about £35 or the equivalent of £1 per month for the term. Nobody in their right mind would consider termination of the contract early.....
