I’ve got the heated buckets in my 981 Spyder but I am edging towards the standard sports seats for the 718.
I want heating so that rules out the full buckets and I believe the sports seats sit lower than the heated buckets so that’s a plus.
Also I think the slight design change particularly with the classic interior looks great and of course the buckets are no longer free.

What’s everyone else going for ?

buy what you like.

AP said if you only tick one box tick buckets.

buying new, it's great you have the choice to buy what YOU want, not what AP likes or we like.

Seats are absolutely a personal choice.

There are people who say that a GT model should only have buckets of some description - and that + harnesses is certainly true for 'track use'.

However, after 17 years of a 2.7RSL with buckets, and various GT3s (inc a Touring) and GT4 with buckets or folding buckets, I'm now firmly favouring the standard Sports Seats for 'road use' - infinitely more adjustable and comfortable, easier to jump in/out, and of course the nice cosy heating.

My 981 spyder has heated buckets.which are great.

however, if i was going to order a 718 spyder in white, black or gt silver (i am not , happy with my car) i would stick with the standard seats , heated , with the classic interior. classic interior is a bargain imo.

in any other colour i would order the buckets and suck up the cost....

Not quite sure how the colour determines the choice of seats - although perhaps the bolder colours might be expected to have the more extreme seats and spec.
Personally, I find the bucket type seats too upright and a pita getting into and out of.

I had a 981 Spyder with full buckets and did not like them. I rather foolishly specced them again in my GT3 Touring, thinking it was the best thing to do given it’s a GT car. Mistake and I would definitely spec the standard sport seats if I had the chance again for any Porsche. I have them in my 911 GTS and love them....

i would not get the buckets with the classic pack i should say , as the classic pack lifts the the look of the std seats.
but a car with no classic pack needs the buckets for the wow factor perhaps...

That’s just how I see it too, the standard seat seems to really work with the classic interior

Lot of ifs at the moment if they build a PDK 718 Spyder I would plump for the standard sports seats even though my CR has buckets which are great btw .
But looking if I buy another Porsche it would be my last one so would be a long term keeper until I don't need one anymore.
Obviously PDk and standards sports seats would see me into old age.
Heated seats in a convertible are a no brainer for the price they cost.
But as we all know people buy what ever suits there needs for now or in the future.

I used to own a 981 Cayman GTS, sport seats plus, I was disappointed on the long run with seating quality. Too much one size fits all. Not good enough for me.

So if I can get my hands on a 718 GT4 PDK version I want or the LWB, or the 18 way electrical seats. But those seats do weigh a lot I suppose?

Can anyone elaborate on how much the 18 way seats weigh?
