Do you have a date stamped picture or document showing the car had that mileage when it was given to you?
I've got the delivery note from Inchcape VW Telford showing the starting mileage of 120 miles.

Then I would make the payment, knocking off the value of the 120 miles, enclosing a copy of the delivery note with the starting mileage highlighted smile

Of course it doesn’t count.
They’ve overcharged you by 120 miles, give them a call and tell them to revise their settlement figure.
If they refuse, ask to speak to someone else.
Frankly they must get this all the time so you must have spoken to someone who is either new or hasn’t got a clue.
It will take about 2 mins !

Got a follow up call from VW today and they're resolutely refusing to remove the delivery miles from my excess mileage charge.

I'll end up paying, but I'm pretty pissed off with them to be honest.

How far away was the dealer it came from?

I suppose they could argue that the mileage starts when it leaves the dealer and that if you choose to have it delivered it’s down to you if the dealer has it driven rather than transported.

120 miles, and yes, that is their argument. I’d be perfectly fine with that if it was made clear when I was ordering the car, but it wasn’t and on all the other cars I’ve leased the delivery mileage has been factored out of the contracted allowance.

The fundamental problem is that I lease a car through CVL, and at the point of order I’ve no idea who the supplying dealer is (in fact they refused to tell me where my current BMW was coming from). So what if it ends up being 600 miles away? They claim that delivery is free, but in reality it isn’t.

Anyway, I’ve paid, lesson learnt.
