My mam is a community nurse and has had NHS lease cars since 2009, currently on her fourth which is a new shape Polo after a Mini, a DS3 then an A1. It is a fantastic scheme withstand no upfront and just comes off the salary, it always works out much cheaper than any retail offer. The scheme she is on though is only available to staff do business miles so there must be different ones depending on role.
I’ve never found an NHS deal that I couldn’t beat with a retail offer. The “net” prices are misleading and include a “saving” on pension. That’s your money that your not putting away for the future.

It’s a company car scheme like any other. I don’t think it’s competitive.

Electric cars such as the golf will be cheap to all company car drivers from April due to zero BIK.
I'm trying to work out if this is worthwhile via the NHS salary sacrifice scheme for my wife...

eGolf with metallic on 10k pa coming out at £197 per month after the tax, ni and pension savings.

The gross salary sacrifice amount (and therefore reduction in pensionable pay) is £326 per month.

Used an online calculator which implies this will only only have the effect of reducing her annual pension by £133 per year. Taking the car on salary sacrifice at £197 per month would save at least £133 per month versus standard lease of same car. This is before taking into account insurance, tyres and servicing that are included.

I'm putting my trust in the online calculator here. It assumes I'll be reducing pensionable pay by this amount until retirement. Which actually, is unlikely because as soon as the BIK rises again, benefits of taking the lease via salary sacrifice quickly diminish.

Am I missing anything?

The mileage is "total miles" regardless of business or personal.

Not sure on that, but in our case, she only has the single place of work so doesn't actually do any business miles for which she'd be reclaiming mileage.

Interesting that this is not just for those in the forces.

Good deals on the i3s and the 440i GC as well.

Nice price on the 440i - not seen anything better recently.

I’m now doubting myself! Only signed paperwork yesterday so I guess I’m still in the cooling off period (any I’ve not paid any ££)

Decisions decisions
Depends on how much you want the car. I am going to go for the Ateca FR sport or Excellent Lux and going to buy it second hand (6 months old) and use some money I have plus a credit card.

A deal popped up (below) back in September for a Peugeot 3008 which I ordered and am delighted with the car.

I hadn't seen or driven one before ordering and was very pleasantly surprised with the whole car on delivery and even more so 2000 miles later.

So, thank you to whoever put the deal up!

A friend of mine enquired last week as to whether they have any more and the offer is there again now but in better colours - red and black.

I've been looking for a Golf R DSG for a while and I placed an order today through www.pinkcarleasing.co.uk at £395 per month, 1+47 with metalic paint for March 2020 registration and delivery.
Scratch that as Pink Car Leasing have been in touch to say that the price increased when they went to order the car so they want an extra £15+ a month. Bit gutted to be fair as VW are closing the orders for the current model Golf R in December.

Has anyone seen a better or comparable 1+47, 15,000 mile per annum please? It will need to be for a none stock car too as I'm in my current contract until the end of Feb.

The black or red are higher cost, £229per month.
I know as I got one for my wife. She was adamant that she didn't want an old police colour. I think it might have been cheaper to wrap it!

Anyway, she will have this for 18m and has had it for 2 weeks. So far, so good....

They (UK carline) were saying they had enquiries but are restricting it to the public as they have had cancellations and that costs them (in time and effort), so you may find this offer may not be available so readily. They tend to supply car accident hire companies (I asked and that is what I was told)

Yes its only 18months but no upfront or admin fee and therefore a bargain , I want to get one in March with a 2020 thats the only reason ive not signed the dotted line

How have you found the performance of these with the small engine? And what sort of real world MPG?
Wasn't initially considering one as I was looking for Tiguan, Q5's etc but struggling to find decent deals. This seems a great deal, for a slightly smaller car, just concerned with the performance?
We are coming from a Golf GTD, not expecting that kind of performance, but need more space now with a 2nd little one due in January.

Well insurance is going to be at least £20-£30 a month more, the car you link is a hybrid, not the EV, looking at the same spec EV car on that website is at £299 month plus 1.7 k cash upfront, so nowhere even close to the nhs deal, even accounting for the no BIK differences.

If I was going to be doing a load of business miles I wouldn't be choosing the EV anyway, however "agenda for change" rules are 56p per mile for the first 3500 you claim, then 20p per mile after that, so with free charging at work it makes sense. The cars they offer are personal lease via salary sacrifice, they don't do business lease deals anymore, unfortunately.
You can’t claim 56p if you use a NHS fleet car for business miles, as it’s a company car. It’s not a “personal lease” via salary sacrifice, it’s a company car like any other. If you do no business miles, then it’s doesn’t matter to you, but many NHS employees do.....

If she does business miles, you need to check what she will be missing out on with having a company car vs personal and factor that in.

Personally I’d take the monthly pension figure that will no longer be being invested and add that on as a notional cost too.

If it’s still cheaper or thereabouts (and it may be with the zero BIK) then I’d FT-NHS-k.

Give them a call.
Stuart was whim I dealt with and the information about them not dealing so much from the public from the manager, I think his name was Keith.

I tried to delay getting hers as a Xmas present, but they were adamant it had to be delivered before Dec as it was costing them....

(I tried to delay delivery and they said they'd cancel if I didn't want it). Not trying to put you off, and for everything else it was a really easy transaction.

the % calculation needs to be based on 10k p/a but deal is still fairly good.

The % metric is usually done against 10k miles so 5k is low but the quote you have is cheaper than what I could find and has dropped from around £315pm back in Feb.
