Got my eye on a '66 pug 308 for 8k if nothing turns up in the next few months! I'm trying to get out of the trap, it's too easy to just take a deal for the sake of it.

Agreed - I was after something ‘interesting’ and a bit sporty, but was oh so close to taking an A4 black edition with the 35 TFSI engine just because it was a decent price. Glad I didn’t as I’ve hopefully snaffled a 330d MSport Pro for only a couple of grand more over the term. Patience is key!

I first posted the Huddersfield deal on here about a month ago, and a colleague signed up for it, but I hadn't spotted that they were pushing the Sport instead now. Can't see a decent deal for the S-Line Sportback at Huddersfield now on whatcar.

They are showing a decent deal on the Coupe - which personally I prefer:

https://www.whatcar.com/car-leasing/deals/audi/a5-...
Thanks... you’re right - nothing decent on the S Line Sportback now

Yes - the coupe would be ideal but still have little kids and not practical. I can literally imagine my little one trying to get out from the back and leaning on the door frame / handle and the force smashing the door against a parked car 🥵

Over £6k to run a Corsa for 2 years! eek
This is the problem with deals right now, I'm paying £190 on a 1+23 for the Astra turbo elite nav and the deal above is 225 on a 3+23 for a corsa.
Thanks for feedback - bit more info on this.

It’s for a Elite Nav Premium automatic on 10000/py

I couldn’t find anything else at a decent spec and automatic for anything close to this price. Absolutely delighted to be proven wrong however if anyone can fin anything better.

First time leaser so all advice welcome.

- must be automatic and must not be more than £250/pm all in.

Thanks!

Very little on leasing.com in line with those criteria

Price seems mad though. I’m waiting around in a v90 r line for about a quid a day more. Suppose the days of those deals are gone.

I did consider that as it’s obviously a good bit bigger than the Corsa, ideally only want a 2 year lease though and would prefer something to look at least half decent! 🤣

Think I may be buying a car next if these good lease dont turn up, you have to be mad to rent a corsa for £3k a year, it seems we have all fallen into this lease trap and struggling to climb out.
I personally don’t see it as a ‘lease trap’. We all know the potential risks and advantages of leasing a vehicle. You make it sound like lenders have tried to snare you with cheap deals and then whack the prices up when your deal ends, but that’s just not the case.

What has happened is that things have changed since many of us took leases out 2-3 years ago. As well as inevitable manufacturer price increases we have a huge amount of uncertainty in markets and economies.

Everyone needs to adjust their expectations.

There have been deals around in the recent past, although perhaps not as frequently as in the past. People forget that deals like the 4C were themselves only available fleetingly. I think the recent 8-series coupe offered deal similar value.

It wasn't that long ago you could get a Volvo S60 T5 R-Design for £229 on a 1+17.

My wife got a great deal on a Golf GTi a few years back, it was returned to VWFS yesterday. She's getting a Megane RS next week to replace it at a comparable price. Not as plush as the Golf, but more powerful.

The other factor (tied in with economic risk and uncertainty) is the regulatory need to be a responsible lender. Personal leasing has become mainstream and lenders need to ensure their processes are fit for purpose to the mainstream. As a regulated lender myself I'm not certain they are. A reducing 8k 2 yr debt for example is a relatively big risk for both leasor and leasee.

That’s £280/pm so £30 more each month.

TBH, £250 is my upper limit as it’s just a second car primarily for commuting. My wife has the family car (Tiguan R Line) which I’ll drive at the weekends etc so keen to not to too much (if any) over my budget!

That’s it, there will be occasional excellent deals and so on. They aren’t traps!

Regular reminder that leasing isn't mandatory. If you can't find a good deal, you can just go and get a used car on a loan... no one needs a new car, it's just a nice to have. No point getting upset about lack of deals, it's just the way it is right now.

It's the auto box that's going to kill it for you. Lots of stuff around on manual...

Pretty good deal if it's true, wouldn't waste time by sending over an enquiry, phone them up instead.

That’s a very smart car for that kind of money if you’re ok with a three year lease. Quick enough, good mpg, great looking. Good mileage allowance too.
Important for a sizeable estate - It isn’t listed but it has reverse camera etc included as part of the parking assistance pack . That’s one of the best deals I’ve seen for quite a while.

Price jumps up by quite a bit if you reduce the miles to 8k so worth checking if it's an error if you are interested.
