The c max if it drives ok , 12 months mot then next mot if it needs anything major get shot of it.

Avoid the mini , I got a Cooper s for a grand but needed lots of bits and bobs sorted.

If you go on the mini r53 Facebook page even the owners say most of them leak oil and have issues .

I'd lean towards the CMax for simple and cheap. I think the Yaris is known for gearbox issues? Might be the Jazz though.

Yaris has the least potential to chuck bills at you, poss ditto the Focus.

Also, if you're on as strict as budget as you are, a Volvo is out of the question imo, ditto MINI.

Edit: I can't believe the Volvo made it onto this shortlist. It's a £600 S60, that almost certainly means it's not a cheap car.

Dude, you can post up descriptions until the cows come home, and while we can give you pointers either way, there’s no substitute for going to physically view the things.

At this rate, we’ll be here this time next year and you still won’t have bought anything hehe

On the face of it, I’d go for the Avensis out of that list.

I’ll tell you something though, coming from traders at sub £1k, I’ll be amazed of any of those aren’t real lemons.  Multiple folks, me included, have told you to avoid traders at this money, but you seem intent on making life as difficult for yourself as possible :-/

Sorry to sound harsh but this is frustrating to read.

I'd look at the two Focuses (Focci?), I'd prefer the 1.8 engine but the 1.6 mileage! Just see if one looks more "loved", or inside is in better nick, or dealer seems more straightforward... all a bit of a gamble at this level...

Pro-tip: I wouldn't advocate buying a banger with money you don't have, but accept you have to deal with current situation - so can you get a 0% cash transfer credit card to widen your scope to the private market?

Get an MSE eligibility calculator done (it's a 'soft' credit check, so won't affect your credit rating)

https://creditcards.moneysavingexpert.com/?money-t...

1. Fingers crossed you get one.

2. Transfer whatever you're comfortable with.

3. And then, as said above, go and look...

When buying privately, you're buying as much from the seller as the car itself - a decent person, happy to chat through anything and just gives you good vibes - well that's a car that's as good as anything in the murky world of s/h, non-warrantied, car-buying.

Also have the cash in your back pocket. Selling a banger is a ******* nightmare; plenty of dheads circulate at that money. You rock up as a good-sort, have a sensible chat and you'll be able to offer a decently-discounted price that will likely be accepted, so the seller doesn't have to deal with any more morons!
