Evening all

Following the success of the last time I posted here (thanks for the beige Nissan Almera suggestions!) I feel like I can put my name out there and offer your services on behalf of a family member!

All kidding aside, relative is starting a new job - roughly 500 miles a week and due to traffic, 50% of it will be motorways (evening commute back home goes against the traffic on the motorway so nice & quiet) but the 50% getting to work is across a particularly long stretch of poorly maintained road - lots of potholes, semi-rural and tonnes of speed humps (presumably it was a short-cut when it was a decent stretch of road). Due to the nature of his job, he is on call 24/7 and needs to be able to get to work regardless of weather. Relatively narrow roads I think too, although not 100% certain.

I could suggest happily, based on the millions of similar threads, of a motor-capable commuter car. But the above scenario is not something that I can relate to, so wouldn't know where to start. Budget is £10k roughly, depends on whether he sells his other cars. Surprisingly doesn't want to buy my Almera.. haha

Doing 500 miles a week means comfort & reliability to me with this & the potholes in mind my first picks are some Infiniti's because your relative can get some low mileage high spec examples for their budget which means they won't have to change cars so often when they have such a high annual mileage.

If they need an SUV/AWD then the EX is almost impossible to beat when you consider spec/mileage & age plus a six pot diesel makes for a sweeter more relaxing car.

GT Premium these are well spec;d (with adaptive cruise air cooled seats etc means that these are a great place to spend 500 miles a week in) reliable & a very relaxing place to be.

FX bigger & imo uglier less practical version of the above

3.0d M S Premium now the BOSE system is quite a thing on these with speakers in the seats no less, you'll have to haggle but your relative could get this for a smidge over their (this & the 2.2d Sport) budget:

3.0d M GT (under budget & the non sport spec means more sidewall)

2.2d Q70 Sport

Q50 Sport

Premium More sidewall ULEZ Compliant too
