Just a quick question regarding car insurance which I found strange.

Took out a new policy for my new leased vehicle through admiral. Being a fully comp driver I know that you can drive any other car in emergency (DOC) however I realised nothing was mentioned in the certificate. Called up admiral and they said DOC is only eligible if you are the registered owner of the vehicle.

Does this rule only apply with Admiral?
I have DOC on my lease car with Aviva (branded quote me happy), and previously had it with Direct Line as well.
The T’s and C’s with Aviva are different to QMH. Totally different underwriting, systems etc.

I don't have it in front of me but daughter's (owned) car is with Aviva and the wording of both the courtesy car and DOC cover is very tight compared to my LV= policy. IIRC the type of use (business etc) is more restricted if it's not the car the policy is for.

Hi all, I hope you all are doing okay. Has anyone with PCH/personal lease contract tried to get a payment holiday or have asked their funder if the existing contract can be put on paused?

My logic being that the car is not in used for weeks therefore might entitle for some money back?

A payment holiday normally implies adding the payments to the end of a loan, so you pay for longer (plus interest). I'm not sure how that would work for a lease as you'd be either looking to extend the term or increase the payments later to cover the payment holiday.

Lex are offering a 3 month "holiday" on PCH cars with the 3 months to be paid in full after the car has been collected.

Afternoon all,

Received a phonecall from Santander Consumer Finance today regarding my Volvo V90 lease thats due to end on 29th May.

I can still stick to that date for collection if I want, or they will allow me an informal extension up to 6 months which can be terminated at 28 days notice. This is on the same terms as i'm currently on.

Just thought i'd post this in case anyone is in a similar position to me.

Cheers,

Jonny.

I had my A Class collected a month ago and last night received the 'end of contract inspection' email.

They are trying to charge me for 2 "damaged" alloys which were flagged up on the initial inspection. I had them replaced in the end (long story) and the collection inspection did not flag them up again as obviously they were brand new. After the collection inspection I received the usual email showing pics etc and more importantly no damage.

So it seems a final inspection was conducted back at their centre as the report is dated as such and has pics of the car sitting in their centre/garage. What has really annoyed me is that they have used pics from the original inspection (this its 3rd inspection) to show the damaged alloys. Its quite obvious they are the old pics as I can seem my driveway in them lol

I've gone back to them saying they have used old pics and there is no damage as per the collection inspection so I won't be paying a penny. Anything else I need/should do? I've emailed them back last night so expecting a reply today or next week. It's really unprofessional how they have tried to use old pics to justify the damage!

This was a deal through Pink Leasing and the collection company was SMH Fleet Solutions.
The saga continues with this one...

They've emailed back saying one alloy will still incur a charge. Funny thing is the alloy in question was not even flagged up on the inspection! That particular alloy does have small scuff on it but within the guidelines. On the original inspection he took pictures of it with his measuring tool etc and added a 'note only' against it. They are now saying that this 'note only' was not final as he had put the condition of the car down as dirty. As mentioned before another inspection was conducted on actual collection and this was not flagged up again even though the car was 'clean' for that one.

They've even miscalculated my excess mileage. They've taken the reading at their centre even though the car has done 60-70 miles more than when it was collected. Surely commonsense is to use the reading from the collection.

Really poor ending with Pink Leasing/Total Motion and will think twice before using them again.

I've had to raise a complaint with BVLRA as they aren't budging so we'll see how this plays out. Anyone else ever had to raise a complaint/dispute with them?

I can’t see how they can expect this to play out in their favour.

Perhaps, with the current situation ongoing, some firms will do their best to squeeze whatever end of lease charges that they can.

A friend has a Kia Sportage on a 4 year lease due to end in July.
From what he tells me the MOT is due end of May, as well as a service.
He has asked to purchase the car - they won't do it as they all go in to the Dealer network.
He's been offered an informal extension at £11.55 per day for up to 90 days with a week's notice.
Currently paying about £245 per month.
I think Kia are a bit greedy for this, but probably not as greedy as some VWFS offers!

He's probably going to tell them to poke it, but of course he's unable to go looking at suitable alternatives. He is 82 so the prospect of a £1500 banger in the short term isn't quite practical - he wants height to get in the car easier and an auto box.

Totally agree - I thought it might be because of the current situ too and the fact that most people just pay without challenging these things.

I'll update on here once an outcome has been reached as I know a few people have leased through them and already seen posts of unhappy customers due to how they are handling these returns.

My current 3yr lease ends in September, so I'm going to end it in july/August to avoid the final service and Mot.

Looking around at 7 seaters like the Prius+, Terraco, and Kodiaq, given Covid, there's quite a few in stock which could be delivered in July. Obviously these would be pre ved rise, and due mot in third year.
Doesn't seem like a huge demand if they're expecting to reserve stock for delivery in 3 months time,.

Going to be a balancing act between mot/service, the increased ved, and whether a factory build would be ready in 3-4 months.

Looks like the pre-reg Seat and Skoda would also be out of warranty before the lease is finished. The whole point of a lease Is to avoid unexpected costs on handback.

The Prius+ seems to win out, but there's no quote for a factory order Excel spec, only the lower Icon., on the comparison sites. Looks like the Excel is £50pm more expensive as a factory build.

Hi all,

Anyone else in a similar situation? My lease is running out in June and I have just seen in the other leasing thread that VWFS will offer extensions at same price for 6 months....however, I took out a maintenance plan with mine (audi s4). Its showing as an inspection due in 57 days and although im well under the mileage limit I expect if I kept it for another 6 months Id need tyres aswell.

The maintenance plan will end in June after 2 years and Im assuming extending that for another 6 months is more awkward? Considering its with a separate company.

How would you guys approach this? Atm Im just thinking its best to say im handing it back (im aware collections arnt happening, but just end the agreement).

I’d contact them and ask about your options, then you can make an informed decision.

I'm getting real tired of chasing Zen Auto for an update on re-scheduled delivery of my Cupra. Was due to be delivered on 3rd April but this was of course postponed due to lockdown.

However, given that BCA have started making collections over the past couple of weeks and some dealers have made arrangements for contactless deliveries, I've asked Zen for an update on 4 separate occasions. Every single time it's been 'we'll have an update in a couple of days, we'll be in touch' and then radio silence until I chase again.

If it wasn't such a good deal (£189 pcm on a 9+23, 10k miles) I'd pull the plug and write off the £100 deposit, cannot stand being messed about.

Is anyone else being told that their monthlies are going to increase due to VED increase.

I have a car on order which the broker stressed absolutely had to be delivered by end of March (due delivery on 31/03). They now state price to increase by an unknown amount. I have asked about cancelling but they state there is a £500 cancellation fee!

It is normal for them to pass on VED increases to the customer. I had to pay a one-off amount on a car previously. However, that increase was during the lease where obviously this is technically before the lease... I suspect they are covered in their T&C's though sadly.

Looking at the paperwork it states vehicle was registered 16/03 so surely there won't be a VED increase if that is the case?

They probably don't know when the supplying dealership will open. Even then the dealer may have a backlog. Things should get clearer over the next month as dealerships start opening up more.

I know it's dealer dependent, this one is with Vindis who have apparently been slower than other dealers to make arrangements under lockdown, so it's not entirely Zen's fault. My main gripe is with their lacklustre communication. In any case, after chasing again today I've had an update from Zen. Apparently Vindis are only delivering to 'key workers or essential personnel'. As I don't fall in that bucket they've given me the option of picking up the car (it's in Cambridge and I'm in London) and they'll give me a full tank of petrol for the inconvenience.

Not exactly sure how I could pick it without bending/breaking the current lockdown rules but hopefully those are eased somewhat come Thursday.

Is it worth him returning the car slightly earlier to avoid the service and MOT cost?
