Word of warning to anyone who gets a lease car with Diamond Cut alloys. My GTi started showing a bit of corrosion on 2 wheels in year one and the dealership said it was due to tiny stone chips and then the water gets under the layer and caused lifting and corrosion. Anyway I have been in contact with Arval as the car is nearing return and they want to charge me for new wheels at 750 each.
What you need to do here is hawk the car around a few dealers (now they are re-opening). VW are notorious about this inasmuch as two different dealers will have a completely different take on this issue and the chances are you will find one who will accept it as a warranty issue.

There is plenty of coverage on this on the specialist forums - basically if there is not evidence of significant user created damage on the wheels then its really down to defective manufacturing - you just need to find a dealer prepared to run with it.

O/H's Kia Sportage is being returned early (PCH/lease) and the cost is rather favourable. less than half of the remaining 6 payments.

Does anyone have any experience of damage charges using LeasePlan Uk?

she has a scuff on the front bumper, thinking about getting repaired, well depending on their charges.

Cheers
Ask them for a damage recharge matrix. Sometimes it isn’t worth getting these things repaired yourself as they may cost you more and potentially be picked up during an inspection if poorly repaired.
great idea. thanks for the this. dont know why i didnt think of this myself.
When you send back, take lots of photos of the car and specifically the damage. Try and put a ruler next to any damage just in case they dispute the size of dents and scratches.

The damage matrix will tell you what is allowable and what isn’t.

Not all collections are awful. Had my car collected 2 weeks ago and I budgeted for three damaged wheels, a dent and a bumper scuff. Collecting agent said two wheels plus the bumper scuff, actual bill was for one wheel.

Have recently signed up to a 36 month lease on a new Tiguan. 6k miles pa.

Can add maintenance for an extra £10 a month. VW service costs are £215 in year one, £285 year two and £215 year 3 (do you get an annual service 3 times on a 3 year lease or just twice?).

So the maintenance package makes sense if I get it serviced at least twice, however it will be set to a flexible service regime and the dealer I’m going through suggests it won’t necessarily need a service annually. Depends how I drive it.

So, question is whether anyone has experience of a VW flexible service regime? 6k pa is probably about right and mostly city driving, with the occasional longer drive. Will the car tell me to service it more than once?

variable service will probably have you service it at around 20 to 24 months, don't pay the annual service on a lease make sure it is set to variable at pdi. With your low miles rotate the tyres too and hopefully you wont need to buy any.

You would be better off putting the maintenance charge in a savings pot instead of adding it to the lease.

Be very clear about not needing annual service, dealer can say anything but look hard at your agreement.
VW website says flexible servicing has a 24 month limit

You need to ask the lease company about that. Normally I would say don't bother with a maintenance plan - but at £360 total cost (when there is a good chance that even on variable you may end up needing two services in the three years (the first one may come up any time after a year if your doing city driving). This would be cost effective - but only if you are covered for the whole lease period. A VW service plan normally requires the car to be set to the time/distance servicing regime (rather than variable) so if you took up the offer you would be getting annual services.

Check your contract - there may be something about equivalence.

As above - generally you need to replace with an equivalent level of brand (so cheap import tyres are out). Second hand tyres are of course not excluded subject to brand.

My method for a two year lease is to spend £20 at the half way point and swap the wheels front to back. If you are doing under 15k miles a year this will even out the wear and mean you are much less likely to need to pay for new tyres at all. On a three year lease obviously you would need to be doing lower annual mileage and of course this is subject to driving style - so if you are zooming around in a Golf GTI taking advantage of its performance you may well be buying at least one set of tyres in any case.

If you're close to the end of lease, get part worn tyres of decent brand and problem solved.

Suppose it depends on the finance company, but I got a puncture into my a few months before the end of the lease and it couldn’t be repaired. I just got a cheap NEXEN one and nothing was said when I handed it back. It just went down on the form as a budget tyre, no charge. This was with Hitachi

Now my current car I have the maintenance package added because it was only an extra tenner a month. Had two tyre replacements and the finance company will only replace for premium brands.

My last couple of leases have been VAG cars, Seat and Audi. Both have an approved tyres list, so as long as you get some from the list, you'll be fine.

If a £10 a month maintenance agreement includes tyres and services its a 'no brainer' - go for it!

All done, about 20 min inspection, picked up front wheels scuffed but that was it. Said he's marking them down and nothing else. Wasn't sure if I'd get charged with that being it.
Didn't have to sign so I videoed him as he said it all at the end.
Great. Will remember that when I sort mine being picked up when the new car comes
Did you ever get charged for anything in the end?

Yes. Santander / Volvo Finance car collected on 27 April. Heard nothing, other than an invoice (by post) for excess miles and one call a week or so ago but no follow-up.

From what I can gather, I think we’re both out of the woods so to speak. It’s stated clearly on BVLA that the leasing companies have 28 days to notify you of any charges once collected.

I remember when I was looking to lease and seeing there were companies which did rolling monthly leases, and one in particular cropped up most.

Can anyone remind me who it was please.
