Am I wrong to think that value in the lease market has greatly diminished at present?
In 2015 I nabbed a lexus IS300h for £215 per month (+3)
In 2018, I leased a Volvo S90 R Design for £291 per month (+3)
Aside from the Formentor deals there appears to be very little of value in the market compared to the last 6 years.
Maybe time to bite the bullet and buy a car to run for 5 years which previously worked pretty well for me as well.

Lease cars are usually delivered with long life. You can also ask the dealer to make sure it's setup like this. Don't just take what they say, tell them what you want.
Ok, so as I understand it the long life means the interval of "inspection" but you still need oil change every year correct? And that also needs to be done by Audi dealer, according to lease agreement.no
The Audi LongLife Service
The Audi longlife service is a variable service regime which has been made possible due to the development of new Audi engines with the latest technically advanced longlife oil. These engines use built-in sensors that continually monitor the oil quality, making it possible to enjoy maintenance and service free intervals for even longer.
Flexible service intervals of up to a maximum of 19,000 miles* or 24 months (whichever occurs first).
This service is recommended if for Audi drivers who drive in the following way:
Regular long-distance driving
Driving at a constant speed with minimum vehicle and engine loading, and minimal towing

When should I service my
Audi?
There are two types of service schedule are available: Fixed (every 9,300 miles or 1 year, whichever comes sooner) and Flexible (up to 18,600 miles or every 2 years, whichever comes sooner). If you tend to drive longer distances on motorways and main roads, we recommend Flexible; Fixed is right for low-mileage drivers who do more city and local driving. With the myAudi or the Connect plug and play app, you can be notified automatically when you’re due a service via your smartphone. It can even notify your preferred Audi Centre to get in touch for booking. Find out more

Not sure what plan you mention. I had two leases Audi on long life service and Audi service package (not maintenance) for 3 years that covered 2 oil changes, inspection, brake fluid and some other stuff. In one car, done one oil service at 17K miles and that's it,because I returned it after 2 years. On second car, I did oil service at 17K miles and brake fluid before 3 years, because it was for warranty repair anyway.
I only bought service packaged at £350, because it was cheaper than oil change service at Audi. Service packaged was later discontinued for newer model.

Yep I’m feeling this exactly. Need a new family car as the old lease is running out. The only thing that peaks my interest is the Cupra Formentor and in the spec I want it’s £350 a month with a massive £4680 initial. 10k miles for 3 years. I think I’d rather buy a new car like you said for 5 years and get something I really want (Porsche Macan) In 2015 I nabbed a lexus IS300h for £215 per month (+3)

Why do you think service will be annually not long life.
VW/Audi service plans are done on the basis of annual servicing so having 'longlife' oil doesn't extend the service interval past 12 months on a plan.TomEdward said:

I think, you will be better off in Macan. Quality of interior and finish should be much better than Formentor. And hopefully, it's more exciting to drive. TomEdward said:

M135i and 128Ti deals via Arnold Clark are pretty decent or at least they were a month or so ago. loskie said:

It used to be the case of favouring a leased or fleet vehicle over private when looking for used but in my opinion id rather go for a vehicle thats had an oil change more regulary. This favours economics to attract business rather than sustaining a vehicles relaible life on the road The Audi LongLife Service

Currently leasing a 218d M Sport
£1000 down and £300pm
Now need a more family orientated car and keen to stay German but nothing really out there other than the 1 series.
May just buy a barge and run it for 4/5 years and then jump on the EVs once their prices settle, unless I can grab an ID4 on the work scheme at a decent rate.
Could get an ID3 for £350pm including insurance and maintenance but the range in the winter doesn't quite do it for me.
Can get the new A3 etron for £400pm as above but the boot space is shocking.

There's two different plans. One is a retail plan based on fixed interval servicing. The other is an add-on to leases by VWFS and that is based on longlife servicing because all leased VAG cars are supposed to be left on longlife at PDI (all VAG cars are set to longlife when built).
Its always good to learn something new - was only aware of the retail set up that specified annual servicing - thank you!Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
