We have a lease with VWFS ending in a few weeks and have been contacted by BCA to arrange a collection. However, we wish to extend the lease for another 6 months.. the problem is we can’t get through to VWFS to arrange this and get a quote

We have filled in an online form but have received no response so far. We don’t plan to arrange the collection and hope VW will get in touch

Any suggestions?
This is the form you need. Fill this out (if you haven’t done so already):

https://customer.vwfs.co.uk/Forms/contract-hire-ex...

Then wait, the car won’t be going anywhere fast.

Just to be safe, I wouldn’t drive the car after the agreement end date, until they’ve got back to you confirming it’s been extended.

Ok so I’ve just had an email from Audi responding to an online form.

It states I need to have the car insured until the end date of my contract which is the end of May. At this point I can cancel the insurance.

Makes sense, but they have totally ignored the fact I paid the car off in full at the beginning of March, so confusion still remains.
Did you pay in “full” or a percentage?
Sorry, I paid the early settlement figure off in full and the car was due to go back end of March but bca obviously cancelled..

Maybe they have simply missed that your agreement has been settled. Have you phoned them (as per the settlement letter) to close your account?

If the answer to that is yes, you should go back to them on email reiterating that the agreement has been settled in full and ask again if the car needs to remain insured by you as you no longer have any financial or contractual interest in the car.

Please let us know what they respond with.
Yes all early termination agreed and collection was booked. I have replied to the email asking if the agreement end date should not be earlier, so we’ll see what they say. When I settled I was told I had 14 days to book the collection or the earliest appointment thereafter or I’d be charged, so to me that should be the new end date.

Given they’ve taken 2 weeks to respond to my first request I’m not holding my breath. Getting through on the phone is now impossible they don’t even let you join a queue.

Its not a mega saving but £60 a month is better in my pocket.

I’ll keep you posted.

They will come back to you.

Just email them back, then give them a few days and chase them again if you don’t hear anything.

Keep chasing them on the same email thread, if they don’t respond to your most recent email, go back to them by “replying” to your last email that you sent them, and keep asking them for an update. They will respond eventually.

There is no point sending new enquiry after new enquiry, you want to build a chain of communication on one thread.

All,

Killthebankers has kindly reminded me in another thread that I’ve failed to update you.

VWFS responded to me yesterday afternoon and I’ve detailed the full reply to you below.

I have now cancelled my insurance and the car is safely on the drive. They’ve also confirmed that they are making the necessary steps to ensure my credit file is not affected by their payment error... I will continue to monitor this.

VWFS said:
The reason your online portal is shown as in arrears is due to you paying your termination figure close to your payment date. To stop another payment from leaving your account we blocked the payment which is what is showing as outstanding.

Once the vehicle has been returned we will clear this down and it will be removed.

We have taken the steps to make sure your credit file is not affected by this.

When you paid your termination figure, we have pro rata your mileage. We expect the vehicle to be on 17468 miles. Anything over that will be charged at your agreed upon rate of 12.98p +VAT p/m.

The government has announced that vehicles that are due an MOT from the 30th March will be granted a 6 month exemption from MOT testing if one is required. Vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition.

Regarding the service on the vehicle this would only be due if the light has appeared on the dashboard advising service due now. If the service is due this isn’t something that can currently be carried out due to retailers being closed. This will not affect the vehicle providing the oil does not get to low as this will affect the engine however this is something that can be topped us by yourself if required.

The vehicle can be left uninsured but it must be not be driven under any circumstances. The vehicle needs to be kept safe, locked and secured. Where possible stored off the road and on private land ( we appreciate this is not always possible)

Please remove all personal belongings, any keys and keyless entry devices. We will ensure the vehicle is taxed as appropriate throughout this period and once the lockdown is lifted BCA will contact you to arrange collection.

In the event the vehicle is stolen or damaged by fire you must immediately notify us and the police. Please obtain a crim reference number.

You will not be charged your monthly rental for the period between your contract end and collection.

Standard end of contract terms will still apply for the damage and excess mileage once the vehicle is collected and inspected.
As always, I strongly suggest people get their own confirmation but hope this helps restore some faith while you wait.

What was your original finish date before you terminated? Has it already passed? Or is it in the future?

My lease expired yesterday, but I hadn't actually booked a collection with BCA yet. Anyone else in this situation? Should I make contact with them (the online booking portal has been unavailable for a couple of weeks) or just wait for contact?

No point, they’re not taking anymore bookings for collections.

Suggest you seek advice from VWFS as to your rights with the use of the car. You can ask to get your contract extended (under the same terms) using the link I posted a few posts back.

My original end date was at the end of June. I requested the early settlement figure in the last week of March and paid it just before April started (which is when my April rental was due).

I spoke to someone on the 31st March who confirmed my payment was received, and that I was correct in phoning up (as per the letter) ”as even if you put your agreement number and registration as the reference, the money still just sits there unallocated unless you phone up and confirm you want to cancel.”

I’d take the last bit with a pinch of salt, but I was advised it nonetheless.

Right, I've given up on expecting any numberplate stuff to be done so just paid the settlement figure today. Now how the fk do I contact anyone to let them know I've paid it?

If you can no longer get through over the phone I would just email them on Fleet.Administration@vwfs.co.uk (that seems to be the email they reply from when you make an enquiry).

Explain that you’ve tried to call as per the settlement letter, but are unable to get through due to their phone system being currently restricted.

Include your car reg and agreement number.

Are you guys calling or emailing to arrange collection?

What’s the best email address to contact them?

Thanks

I appreciate these are exceptional times but VWFS really do have systems out of the dark ages.

I terminated my PCH agreement on 6th March (2 months early), with a collection by BVCA arranged for 26th March which obviously did not take place.

Received a letter on 21st March stating that I was now in arrears - called them and told to ignore it and there would be nothing placed on my credit file, that I no longer needed to insure it and that my account was now closed

Had nothing from them since until this morning when I receive a "Reminder Notice" stating that I'm in arrears again and a default notice may be issued unless I clear the arrears.

My account is closed- I have settled in full - complete bunch of idiots

I had to call them 3 times until I could find someone who had a record of my car to get it collected after a spate of threatening letters from them and daily texts messages about them calling me (which never happened)

I'm in the same boat - I got a quote beginning of the year which was less than my current monthlies. I then got another quote about a month ago which was significantly more than my monthly! I want another 'formal' quote now but not getting any joy in speaking to anyone.

I’d just extend for 6 months at your current price and then look to get a more formal quote once things normalise. At least at the end of the 6 months you have the option to extend for another 3 months at the same rate.
