Anyone on here terminate their PCH early?

Trying to figure out the next steps. I called Audi finance and through the menus got to an automated settlement figure and details of their account to do a bank transfer if I wish. Settlement figure valid til 16th May. Do I just transfer the money and then wait for acknowledgement/collection email? And does the 16th May mean that's my contract end date?

Difficult without speaking to someone but guessing their phone lines are hectic at moment.

Apologies, but this has all been covered in this thread.

As per the settlement letter you’ll receive through the post (to confirm in writing your settlement figure), it states you must call them after you’ve made your payment (simplest way is via bank transfer).

Once they speak to you, they will then locate your payment, “end” your agreement, and cancel your direct debit... at which point you should cancel from your end, if you haven’t done so already.

Don’t select the telephone option “regarding a collection” because the phone system will transfer you through to BCA who won’t be able to help you, you need to speak directly to VWFS.

The problem is at the moment no one can get through to VWFS on the phone. Suggest you make the payment regardless, email them confirmation that you’ve paid it, and also keep trying to call them.

Once they’ve confirmed they’ve received your payment, you wait for news from VWFS regarding collection.

However, I’ve shortcutted the “wait” by just using the link previously mentioned above to book collection myself.

Apologies, had looked but obviously not well enough (constantly getting told that at home too!).

Thanks for information, much appreciated.

Anyone had a collection yet or is the earliest Tuesday? Got mine booked in for Wednesday, just called BCA to double check but phone lines still state that they are closed. Assuming the collections are going ahead, I will plan to wash the car this weekend but think it could be a waste of time!

All seems strange but they probably didn’t expect to have a forum of people to be able to tell each other to book.

I’m going to cancel my car insurance regardless now I have had the email from VWFS.

I have got a collection booked for Monday. Will probably give it a quick wash but not holding a lot of hope they will actually turn up.

Hi mate,

Sorry to bombard you with questions.

I just called up Audi and received an early settlement quote via their automated phone service. The quote is valid until 29th April (not long left). I’m pretty much sure I won’t receive the early settlement letter in time before the 29th April.

Shall I just make the payment via bank transfer and send them an email confirmation?

I’m worried about cancelling direct debit from my side as the last thing I’d want is my credit history to be effected.

Thanks in advance mate.

Yes pay and send the email before the deadline. Don’t cancel the direct debit. They more than likely will take the payment but will refund it later.

Yes I would make the payment, cancel the direct debit, then email them confirmation, stating you’re trying to call them on the telephone but are unable to.

Make sure you include your agreement number and car reg on all communications.

The letter will come through the post in due course.

Definitely cancel the direct debit after you make the settlement figure payment.

You have no need to keep the direct debit active and you will end up in a world of grief trying to get it back if they take your usual monthly payment.

There's always the direct debit guarantee though so worst case scenario you bypass VWFS and go through your bank

True, but you could also end up like me having an unpaid marker on your credit score that I now have to faf to have removed. I’d much rather have to chase the money back.

Yes but that isn’t your fault. You should still follow the correct process.

Thanks for the response guys, very helpful!

What about insurance? I’m thinking about keeping the insurance just to be on the safe side as I’m guessing it’ll take at least 3/4 weeks to arrange collection.

Yes VW/Audi FS told me to do that. Its very easy and you have the money back the following morning. Had to do it twice at the end of this last agreement due to their taking incorrect and random amounts from me.

VWFS have been giving out wishy-washy answers on this (people have been getting different responses) but providing your agreement has ended (very important you check that the agreement has been terminated by VWFS, just because you’ve paid the settlement figure doesn’t mean they’ve actually terminated it yet) then the general consensus is you don’t need insurance in place and it can be cancelled.

Suggest you get your own confirmation from them before cancelling as you could be in a world of pain if the agreement hasn’t been terminated, you’ve cancelled your insurance and the car is stolen etc.

Another generic crock of st 'update' regarding my complaint, the irony being if they actually had decent procedures in place or acted quickly like it seems all the other lease companies/manufacturers seem to have, they wouldn't be inundated with complaints;

Further to our last communication we want to assure you that we are still working on resolving your complaint. At VWFS we are committed to our customers and their experience with us.

Following the Government's advice to protect against the Coronavirus outbreak in the UK we are experiencing an increase in customer contact at present and therefore it is taking longer than usual for us to provide you with a suitable solution, we are sorry for this delay.

We are prioritising customers in the most vulnerable situations and therefore would ask that you do not contact us unless it is urgent. As soon as we are able to provide you with a resolution we will contact you.

If you have any further queries about your finance agreement please visit our website: customer.vwfs.co.uk

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this uncertain time
