Advice needed please
Discussion
Morning all,
I've been speaking to the seller of an Aston DB7. It's what I am looking for, but I needed some advice about viewing/inspection, collection and payment during lockdown.
The car is in East Anglia and I am in Sussex.
Has anyone bought or sold a car privately in the last 6 weeks?

Wow. That is a very kind offer Enzoenzo. The car is in Norfolk. I will check with the seller where exactly in Norfolk it is located.
Its a supercharged DB7 that is for sale here on PH.

I will try to PM you the location and see if it's reasonably close to you.

Going to view a car is not an essential journey unless you’re a keyworker and you need the car to get to work. I’m sure some cars are selling remotely and being delivered but I’d wait until restrictions are eased before driving around to view. It may be acceptable within a week or two, who knows.
I’m keen to buy too but there is little choice but to wait it out IMHO.

I wasn't considering driving to East Anglia to view a car during Lockdown.
I was interested to hear how other Pistonheaders have dealt with buying a car during lockdown. For example, on The Market auction website they are offering 'personal video viewings' of each of their vehicles that go through their almost daily auctions. What would you want to see/hear during the Facetime/Zoom video call?
I have bought several cars before based almost entirely on photos/videos, past mot history, service history and talking to the seller,
I am looking to agree a deal during this current lockdown, as I am hoping that my negotiating position might be better now rather than after lockdown. Maybe this is wrong, and there will be a massive depression like the 1930's.
I am a key worker but I don't really consider that to be massively relevant, although I will use it during any negotiations!

Check the MOT history. The numberplate is cunningly obscured, I bet it's for a good reason. Probably rust. These rust like nobody's business, mostly in places you can't see. The advert is misleading in that respect. I would want to in person see it up on a ramp. Or up your budget a few grand and buy one from Chiltern Aston or the like.
