Most VAG diesels seem happy to push over 200k it's just everything else that wears around them. At that mileage the thing must be like driving a blacmange!

To be fair i think today and maybe the last decade any car from new provided it’s serviced properly will easily do 200k

Most modern cars will do over 200k if looked after properly, it's how many suspension refreshes & components around the engine you'll have to replace in that 200k that'll make the difference as to whether it's worth running the car for that long.

OP I still say the Mondeo ticks all the boxes in either diesel or petrol form you'll get more choice with the former but make sure it's a 2015+ as you could end up being in the ULEZ if the extension goes ahead:
