What’s your best price?
Discussion
Just remembered why I hate selling cars.
I also now understand why traders ignore messages. 99% time wasters.
It would be nice for one person to turn up to look at it! I’ve got no real issue if someone decides it’s not for them, but why mess me around...
Oh and my best price is always the asking price.. especially if it’s the first question..

Everyone likes a deal, but it amazes me how many want 30 percent plus off an already competitive asking price, lower than Part Ex, lower even than WBAC.
Then you get some that turn up and pay full asking price or, the very middle class "I Suppose we should haggle, its £4500 isnt it ? I will give you £4450, is that ok ?"
Its a demographic thing based on years of flogging cars on an amateur basis, and that is largely driven by what you are selling, anything that would work as a taxi, get ready to do the hardest bargaining of your life. Cheap hot hatches, get ready for the wildest test ride of you life.
The older widowed gent next door was selling his one owner, low mileage Astra, for pennies, £300, full mot, FSH, if you like turdy old bog spec Astras it was manna from heaven. His daughter asked me to preside as resident bloke who knows about cars and all the icky selling stuff. A group of chaps from Stoke turned up, called me fowl names (Duck) and were pleasant, one drove it and was going to start his haggle, wasn't in the mood for it "Can I stop you there, there is no haggling, any further attempts and you don't get to buy it, its £300 or a trip home empty handed".

I have a car to sell in the near future and this is not filling me with confidence.
The difficulty is, it appears that I might be able to secure roughly £1500 more selling privately vs. WBAC which is potentially a big deal on a roughly £4k car.
WBAC offer £3000 (and they’ll knock that down because it isn’t perfect)
eBay sold listings roughly £4000-4500

This boils my blood. If it's for sale for 150, I'll reply with a random statement, e.g
'Geoff Hurst in the 1966 world cup final.'
Queue confusion....
-What?
Argon or inert gases.
Best price? Not just cars but everything these days it seems.
I always pay the asking price on anything I buy if the price seems fair.
I’m not a Turkish market trader and I don’t want a deal for the sake of it.
Don’t be a cheapskate, pay up and look big.
