Having someones word really is good for nothing these days, isn’t it? Everyone is just out to fk someone else wherever possible. I probably would have told them they can get lost for doing that. Their fault for haggling before seeing the car, which I always refuse to do.

If I had lots of interest I’d have done just that...

I'm going through this joy at the moment... wots ur best price? whats ur final price? Even before they have seen the car.

I think the next time I get a message of "Is this still available?" I'll reply with "yes whats ur best offer".

I'm selling a car at £1800 and one message was just "£1200 today"

Don't bother replying, or tell them to come and collect it and given them an adress 500 miles away from you

This is why I treat so many household items, electronics etc as disposable items - I'm not willing to deal with people on eBay/FB Marketplace/GumTree etc, they're just the worst. If it's worth <£100 it goes to the charity shop or it gets offered up for free on the whatsapp group for the development I'm on, first come, first served, no reserving for people. If it's worth more then it's either given to family or I farm it out to the Mrs to get rid of i.e. It sits on the rafters in the garage for the next 5 years.

Selling cars is all done via dealerships/Motorway now, I value my time far more than the stress and aggrevation of dealing with utter tools for an extra 10%.

Had a very low offer when selling my EP3. He didn't do the best price thing, but he did say this when I wouldn't cut my price in half "Come on man, I work at Tesco, you work at xxxxxx". Basically he thought I should give him charity rolleyes Lesson learnt, do not tell people your occupation if asked.

At this point I asked him to get out of the car and leave (he was in the driver's seat with keys to make things worse). He'd come with 2 mates from London, about 3 hours away. Somehow it was my fault he had wasted his time coming such a long distance to make a silly offer. They were also late so they were viewing the car with phone torches rolleyes He wasn't very happy about being asked to leave, and with it being 3 vs. 1 I felt pretty exposed, but they did eventually go.
This seems to be the thing with selling cars these days, making their problem your problem, you have highlighted two in your post.

"Come on man, I work at Tesco, you work at xxxxxx"
"Somehow it was my fault he had wasted his time coming such a long distance to make a silly offer"

Others I have experienced are:

"I only have £X amount"
"I am a key worker, can I have it for £X"
"A family member is ill/died", "My car was written off this morning", "I need a car tonight to see my children/dad in hospital"

And then if they do decide to buy the car you get the further option of "My missus doesn't like the car, can I have my money back", or six months down the line "The car just failed the MOT and my mechanic says it needs £500 of work, what are you going to do about it?"

Last car I sold (virtually gave away) the buyer phoned my mobile at 11:00PM at night to inform me he was trying to tax it and I had given him the wrong green slip. I then spent half an hour patiently confirming it was the correct one, sending him photographs of the log book and document ID. The green slip is one digit different so I suggested trying the number I had sent from the log book with one extra digit. He could not grasp this concept at all and just kept going on "but I have the wrong green slip"

In the end I asked him if he had two green slips and he confirmed he did, it turned out he was using an old one he just found in the old paperwork. banghead

Retards the lot of them, they expect a brand new car with full warranty for £500.
