I look too as I promised myself a 996/997 of some description for my 50 th in 3 years time, the maintenance costs scare me a little through on any Porsche.
The Cayman or Boxster seems to be a good shout though.

Cayman 2.9 for me, the difference in acceleration between that and the S is something I wouldn't notice and most normal drivers wouldn't either really. I got mine at the beginning of July and love it, it's a great car and handles beautifully.

Take one for a spin and see what you think.

Where? Autotrader only has 5 auto Lotus cars and the Evora is 48k.
