Hi,
So I’ve arranged to sell my car next week as a part ex on a new car from a Skoda dealer. Issue is, as my parents got me the car (as it’s my first one for a birthday gift) that the name is misspelt on the v5c. I have the settlement agreement to show the payments are complete for the finance on that car. I have never checked the v5c until now as it’s been stored away in a folder and it turns out my second name is spelt incorrect Hartridge instead of Partridge. My address is correct and matched my drivers licence. Is this going to cause any issues as I read online that it takes 6 weeks to get it changed to the correct name? Would I be best telling the dealer or just filling out the change of ownership with their details and transferring it over? Really panicking now as I’ve put a deposit down on the new car.
Thanks for any advice you can give!

Sign the V5. Play dumb. Nobody is going to take any notice of that.

Just be mindful if you are due road tax refund as the DVLA will issue you a cheque with the misspelt name and you may not be able to cash it

Banks will never spot that. I worked in a set of companies with similar names. Customers were always muddling up which entity to pay. We just banked the cheque into the correct account.

OP. I'm known as Steve or Stephen and my V5s carry a selection. It's never been a problem. (similar to a spelling error really)
