Volvo or anything French. French car seats are unbelievably comfortable but the downside is they're bolted to a French car.
...and Saab.

Across all the 40-odd cars I’ve owned, I’d say the best were in the original XC90.

W220 S Class also excellent and, believe it or not, the VW Polo Bread van. Saab’s also first rate

Rover 200 series, Porsche 993, Audi RS6 and original Mini all awful and the Bentley Mulsanne also surprisingly poor

Fair point.

Our Volvo V70 2001 with heated leather is magnificent. Even with 275k on the clock. The Saab 9-3 taxis we had were also very popular with drivers for comfort.

I've got an MV6 omega.

Everyone that's ever been in any of the 5 seats in any omega will tell you if it's comfort you want, then you can do no better.
My wife even says that's true and she's hard to please.

I'm guessing that an elite with cloth trim and softer suspension, would be even better.
Between an S reg Omega CDX and S reg Volvo V70, the Omega had by far the better seats. I don't have a more recent comparison

Disclaimer- these aren't cars I owned but have been passenger in typically mates or family members.

Lexus IS300H, Merc S500 limo - circa 1999/2000 model, Lexus GS300 (v old model, hardly see that shape around or for sale now).
Volvo 760 GLE - leather seats in this era of Volvo were bliss!!
2015 Audi A6 - been in a few of these and the comfort and effortless 'shove' of the diesels makes for enjoyable journeys.

I'd be curious to know how the Volvo V40 with leather/part leather seats stacks up. They look well made but being a smaller hatchback not sure if they can match the comfort levels of a saloon?
