As Richard's post DB11s are all come with 5 year free service as standard and its bound to the car not the owners. I have done 2 services at £0 cost. Having brand new Vantage as a courtesy car while DB11 was there big bonus.

Service intervals are every 10k miles or 1 year.

Replaced all 4 tyres with Michelin PS4S at around £850. Cant remember exactly.

Aston warranty extension £1800 per annum

Over 18k miles average 19 MPG. I live in central London so always heavy traffic.

I can't see running costs of DB11 being any higher than M5/AMG/RS to be honest.

I had Bentley GT Speed before DB11 and that was expensive to run daily with £3k Warranty, £1.3k tyres, 12mpg and £1k service
Excellent intel - thanks memzyy!

Useful, thanks. The AM warranty extension is the main difference in running costs between the two offset by an annual service on the M5.

As always it’s the depreciation that is the main cost though.
Agreed on the depreciation - second guessing how much more the DB will lose is the trick....

Why not consider 19/69 plate M5 for £55k? Which will still have over a year of warranty left and you can haggle to extend another year with main dealer so it will come with 2 year+ warranty.

Not regrets when you pull next to the DB11 at the lights neither as you know you "saved" £35k - £40k.
It’s certainly an option.
Agreed. I have one favourited on AT! But, the savings are soon forgotten when you know you missed the chance to own a AB, that’s my current thinking... carpe diem and all that

The only thing putting me off is one of the previous points about blowing 90k on a 4yr old car...

Mentioning McLaren's, I think a £90k 650/570 would be a better alternative than a £90k DB11. Rarer, more of an occasion to drive, and in supercar territory. Obviously, not as an every day car though.
Did consider Macs, Phil. Been put off by friends’ tales of woe when it comes to ownership and service issues.

The early models in particular are prone to issues with costly fixes (or a £3k per year warranty). I do like them but probably not daily driver enough, and I take the reliability warnings seriously. I can afford to buy one, but can I afford to run one?!

They are expensive toys aren't they. Mine is 17 plate i bought it when it was just 2 yr old for £101k. Today you can get 2yr old V8 for £105k ish but probably you want the the V12.

I wonder and almost annoyed why V12 AMRs are not coming down. 2yr old still holding firmly at £120k. They were exactly same price last year too
Yeah - the journos say the v8 is the better car, but you need a v12 with an Aston, surely!

They are very capable cars indeed not enough to beat the M5 off the lights but still smile I owned nearly new 570S for 6 months in 2016, my brother bought it off me he still has it. It certainly looks, drives and have special feeling of £90k car should have.
Any issues with it as per my reply to Phil’s post? I heard several horror stories...

It had its fair share of niggles and issues when it was newer but not a horror story. All sorted under warranty as well. He keeps extending the warranty but haven't made any claims since 2019. He doesn't use it daily though only around 3-4k miles per annum on track days, eu trips or Sunday driving.

Its more of a supercar rather than daily usable sports/GT car really. My brother loves it but it wasn't for me. . I like to use my cars daily, i like the smell of genuine leather, double glazed windows, acceptable suspension comfort, special and exclusive feeling and power, performance and drama when i feel like it. Probably Aston and Bentley are only brands offer all these in 1 package.
Thanks for the feedback. You confirm my opinion - the Mac is good fun but not a daily.

Agree on AM and Bentley. Can’t bring myself to buy a Bentley yet as it looks a bit stodgy but maybe when older. My neighbour has a GTC and adores it though.

I think in this bracket they are all great propositions and it is just about the right fit for your needs.

Lets forget about all RWD £100k, £200k, £300k Astons, Ferraris, McLarens etc. They all got parts from cheaper brands and not usable all year round, etc. Buyers who pays those amounts for those cars and manufacturers who built them doesn't know anything.
Out of interest why do you have a Range Rover and not a Bentley Bentayga or an AM DBX?
Funds...

Oh....and looks!

I haven't updated garage in profile but i sold the RR after i bought the DB11. I was always taking the keys of Aston and RR was just sitting not getting any use. I live in central London with girlfriend no kids and also work around town/city centres so really there was no grounds to buy/need the RR in the first place but its excellent at what it does so i kept it for a while. Mine was also EU5 so emission issue was coming up and insurance has always been expensive for it. I insure Aston for just over £1k, RR was £2.1k..

If I was to buy a SUV again i will buy RR again. Not the Sport. Full fat RR. I used dealer demo Bentayga when my Bentley was in the dealership at the time. The build quality quietness leathers smells are all superior to RR. But for a SUV i will still buy the RR for half the price.

I can't go and argue Bentayga or DBX owner that they been stupid and RR is better SUV. After all they could have bought 2 RRs for the price if they wanted RR smile

Why have you bought RR and not BMW X5? X5 have everything going for as far as any BMW. Faster than RR, better tech than RR, better built quality than RR, better customer service than RR. Even you can buy nearly new one for the price of 1 / 2 years old used RR?

Hey Phil - used to live in central London so know your pain.

We went for RRS (my wife’s but I drive a lot) as her preference. More luxury than X5, presence, looks. Downside is build quality and many small issues needing to be fixed under warranty. Next one will probably be a “boring” X5 as the Missus puts it. Or potentially look at Bentaygas but they aren’t the prettiest. Sublime luxury and class inside though.

I am currently speaking to a dealer about a 2017 v12 DB at present. Am in no rush but if there’s a deal to be done....

Good luck. Pick a Launch Edition if you can they come with loads of extras as standard. I think £25k - £30k worth of options
Yup, it’s a Launch Edition! Other than B&O not sure what else they included in the LE.

I had pdf somewhere but cant find it now...Main highlights were B&O sound system, Upgraded Caithness Leather - Which is much softer and nicer to touch, Leather Headlining, celestial Perforation, wings on head rests , motorised centre console deep pile carpets, touch pad. I am not if heated and cooled seats are standard or LE, also 360 degree cameras.

What colour you looking at?

Great - thanks!

It’s a dark grey silver.

I like a coloured leather. However I dislike 3 owners and non-franchised dealer even if it is McLaren.

Thoughts?

I dislike the colour of the leather but that is just personal and there are far more important things to consider when buying a AM.

Why would you buy outside of the AM dealer network? You might save a few £k upfront but what about the risks? Why would someone sell outside the AM dealer network? Perhaps, because of the history you have discovered in this case?

I thought you were looking at this one:

https://preowned.astonmartin.com/preowned-cars/187...

Which ever way you go there is no short cut (financially) to buying or maintaining an up market marque. Be realistic about how much you want to spend over the lifetime of your ownership, and enjoy it smile
Yup, I have that one you saw favourited on AT too!

I am bored of black leather on everything and the resulting sombre cabins. Bit serious about buying the one I put the link up for as agree on the AM warranty. Just searching around until I can test drive one...

I would advise and prefer to have AM Warranty. Also you may get some niggles when you first get the car it will be much easier and efficient to deal for AM main dealer who know and understands the car rather than Mclaren dealer or anyone else.

Exterior colour is Magnetic Silver, very classic AM colour i think it fits the car very well. Its not as dark as it looks in Mclaren dealers pictures though. It is the same colour as the one Phil shared. Mine is also same colour. Video of mine below and its sort of true reflection how it looks in metal.

I also think black pack suits better than chrome it covers exhaust tips, front grill and bonnet fins.

Interior wise i normally go for black but this time gone for light as in the video. I wanted to have at least the dash in black but hard to get everything and deal was right.

I think your budget of £90k very realistic for 17 car i would suggest to wait and get one from main dealer even if does mean few more miles.

Hi Phil - didn’t buy one yet. Almost bought one 2 months ago but someone came in and reserved without seeing. (Also been recovering from an op which curtailed my purchase but now fitter).

As we all know, the used car market (for Astons at least) has changed markedly. Half the stock versus 4 months ago (50 vs 100 main dealer DB11s for sale on AT) so less choice, and prices hardened up too. Main issue is choice and too many compromises….

Will take a while for stock to come back into the trade I think (WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK??) so will probably end up compromising and buying “something” over next weeks. Will be DB not M5 though - want something special (no offence M5!!).
