We Buy Any Car Valuation, Surely Not?.....

We are in the process of changing my wife's car and before accepting the poor p/x valuation we tried wbac for a valuation. The offer was £1000 more than the trade in. We set about removing the private plate from it and today received the new V5 document so went back on to wbac to get an updated valuation with the original number plate. The site didn't recognise the number plate (I guess their system needs to update every now and again) so I had to enter the details manually. The new offer is £1000 less than the original offer. I double checked by using the private plate for a valuation and sure enough it was £1000 more. All the details are exactly the same but if entered manually the offer is £1000 less. Looks like I will be accepting the poor p/x offer after all.
Surely you just take it to them based on the quote with your plate on it and explain it’s the same car and you have your plate on retention?Takemeaway said:
I'm seeing several WBAC prices offered that are higher than what a car is being sold for at the dealership!!!
Simply reflects their confidence that future prices will increase. This appears correct too judging off BCAs sales today when most ex lease fleet and contract hire vehicles made well over Cap Clean despite around 10 % increase from May to June.
Looks like July book prices will inevitably be another 10% up on Junes as predicted.
Many dealers are holding on to stock now simply rising prices and further shortages of used cars inevitably fuel further price hikes.
Latest offer from WBAC is now more than I paid for the car 18 months ago! Quite tempted to cash out and go for something a little older and realise some gain.
Current: AMG E43 Premium Estate.
Would need to be a performance Estate, as I really get the use out of mine. Thought about an older E63, as I do love a V8, or perhaps a newer V90 T6 or something, but that is a lot down on power on the E43 let alone E63.
Probably won’t though, as I actually quite like my E43….
Weird times.

£27k for my 440i. Paid £28.5k last year for it. Wow that's not bad at all... and I don't actually need my car these days.
Although £27k could put a decent dent into the cost of a MY20 Giulia QV... Tempting
It's up to £28k. It's getting high enough now where I'm really considering how much I need it... The market will dip eventually.Although £27k could put a decent dent into the cost of a MY20 Giulia QV... Tempting
Spoke to mate who owns local garage and he did mean WBAC is offering close to retail price for new-ish models with low miles.
Seems these are selling quick due to shortage of new cars (chip shortage which causes 12 months leadtime in some cases).
Definitely an earner if you have a low mileage car sitting around not getting used much.

I just sold my Mustang to WBAC at the weekend. Out of curiosity, I bumped in my VW California last week and got bid £35K. Not looking to sell, but clearly they didn’t want it. Earlier to I got an email to say they’d changed the valuation, so had a look, jumped to £50K! Blimey. I paid less than that back in August.
(Clearly their pricing algorithm has had a brain-fart at some point.)

Ended up selling ours back to the dealer we ordered it from new about three years ago.
WBAC offered £15k but time I took it down there with four marked alloys, some stone chips to the front and sole bumper scratches on the rear I would have likely not walked away with more than £14k.
Dealer offered me £14250 and we’re not concerned about the alloys or scratches, plus they pay the finance company direct.
