We Buy Any Car Valuation, Surely Not?.....
Discussion
As above 4 working days as promised my finance was cleared along with the positive equity paid into my account. I was on a strict timeline as I didn't want to delay my new car and WBAC were excellent.
Motorway messed me around a bit, I waited for a phone call back that never happened and when I chased the estimate was reduced by £1k.

I think you're right OP.
Just checked one of my cars that i sold last year, it was about £39k on WBAC, it's now worth more at £44K.
Make the most of it, although WBAC will knock you down for anything, maybe better off trying Wizzle.
I used them to sell in the end (which offered me £40K), and you only sell to dealers; you could get more than WBAC.
Good luck.
Just thought i'd check in on the same car, as it's been about a month. Just checked one of my cars that i sold last year, it was about £39k on WBAC, it's now worth more at £44K.

Now offering just over £46,500, so that's an extra £2,500 in a month.
Just did another checked £51,615.
That's about 6k in 2 weeks.
It's a shame i needed to sell it when i did (house move), otherwise that would have been a nice little earner now.
Sold my M6 through Wizzle earlier to a BMW main dealer.
No haggling, transaction was smooth, I got £40,000. WBAC were £40,765, decent bloke assessing it, with a bit of haggling my side to limit the reductions we ended up on £39,800 after fees. That’s for a car that couldn’t really be in better condition, it was mainly a handful of stone chips he marked down.

I sold my F15 X5 to WBAC yesterday. Got a price thats the same as I was expecting for a private sale. In and out in less than 20 minutes. Replaced it with a C43 estate but the same car was cheaper last year so it's swings and roundabouts.
That's my concern. My car is halfway through its finance so could vt it or sell to WBAC and clear finance, but then it's rinse and repeat at the higher prices around these days...Panthro said:

Exactly. This thread reminds me of people that ‘made’ £XXk on their house.
Unless you leave the market into rented or move into a different market, the replacement has likely increased in price a similar percentage over that time.

If you enter your car details are you then bombarded with spam for the rest of eternity? Curious to try but always put off by the potential spam repercussions.
Set up a Gmail account or whatnot specifically for this purpose, then never look at it again. Took my 8 year old car to WBAC last week. Was quoted £5k with the declared damage. I had rounded up on the mileage and there was a full wad of paper supporting the fsh.
Chap walks around with his tablet..."Computer says £4k"
I refuse and enquire why the difference, seems it was two minor kerbed alloys and a couple of barely noticeable scratches dropped it down.
He looked disappointed when I declined and came up with the classic "What's the lowest you'd take?"
Time wasters.

I would guess even less than 18 months. Unless we have a paradigm shift in new car prices I would imagine the factories will be up and running within
six months.
If the new car supply becomes anywhere near pre 2020 supply levels we will have a huge amount of overpriced second hand cars. In the same way as these cars have had a very steep appreciation curve in the last few months I can foresee the exact opposite in twelve months time. Couple this with an economy that could be in the doldrums and I would not be buying a used car now.
Funny as my boxster is worth 7k more than 2 years ago.six months.

Having 3 lumps of metal on the drive as now WFH on a perm basis has made me rethink my fleet
I’d share my 2 recent experiences:
Put my Ford Ranger 19 reg with 8k on WBAC they have bid me £1700 more than when I bought it new in 2019 … booked in next Sunday lets see how much they chop me down.
Sold my 3 month old GT86 2 weeks ago no intention to sell but just for a laugh put it on Wizzle had a bid £2k more than what I purchased from the Toyota Dealer in March (was purchased it as a pre reg and was one of the last registered -21 plate). Wizzle we’re brilliant, car collected hassle free no negotiation and funnily enough the car is for sale at another Toyota dealer in the s/e for £5k more currently.
Strange times current market (for once) is working in my favour (now just running my little leggy FIESTA ST )
Going to sit back and see what happens trying to avoid buying a new GR Yaris

That's staggering. What car was it?
It sounds like you got more than retail as the spread between WBAC and retail is nowhere near that much, at least on "normal" stuff under £30k.
Audi SQ7, nice high spec but surprised me. Only lost £1500 in 18 months and 22k miles. Makes a change! It sounds like you got more than retail as the spread between WBAC and retail is nowhere near that much, at least on "normal" stuff under £30k.
