I guess the tie up with British car auctions means they know what’s going on . My defender they will not value and the mustang valuation means I ran it for two years at no cost !

Interesting, I have a Fiesta on the privilege scheme. Currently owe around £10.5k and 3 months ago was getting offers of approx £9k from WBAC.

Just checked now and they're offering £11k.

Might be perfect timing for me to get rid, and into something else!

  • Will leave it for a few days as they normally come back with an updated offer if you ignore them for a bit.

My 420i GC was £20k last month, now it's £21k. I thought I'd have to wait till December to VT or trade in but 6 months early is good.

Yeah I stuck our Mini Clubman Cooper S in and came out at £14k.

Nearly fell off my chair.

Only have £13.5k to pay off the finance so even if they knock me down £500 I will still break even.

Rather tempted to be honest.

It’s either keep the Mini and stage 1 it or sell it and get a Golf R or M135i

Anybody know what they are like for alloy damage? All four of mine have marks, being black they look worse than they are but could all do with a refurb.

wbac and the likes are making good offers that put the specialists to shame, in fact i just cant see how these specialist dealers with their really st offers are buying any cars. You know the ones, top5 ,roman, red something ,bad offers and they are advertising for stock.

Covid has meant some really strange things on WABC

My current car has gone up by just over a grand in a couple of weeks

This time last year the WABC for my previous car dropped from £23k to £4K overnight. Dealers were still offering the original amount but WABC were right out of sorts

I've got a M135i on order, due first week of June.

Worth trying motorway.co.uk also

Sold my 2016 Merc E200 Cabriolet with 17k miles on it to WBAC yesterday. 2 months ago their valuation was £15.5k, steadily gone up over that time, and this week hit £20k. Couldn't turn it down at that point, given it's probably peak time to sell a rag top now, and dealers are selling similar cars for that money. New Alfa Giulia Veloce on order arriving Sept, didn't want to risk the Merc dropping back in value! Knocked off £350 for stone chips on the bonnet which was fair as I hadn't added them to the valuation - easy to deal with. £2k more than Alfa offered as a trade in.

We’re the stone chips excessive for the age/mileage?

I don’t think I’ve ever been to view a used car that didn’t have some stone chips.

Used car values have definitely gone nuts.

The value of my F40 m135i went up by £1800 in under a month.

Sold it to Sytner group instead of WBAC as it was less hassle and they don't knock £££s off for a stone chip.

Went up on their site for £1k less than I paid for it new (was 6 months old, 1500miles) and sold within 3 days.

Not excessive by any means, but WBAC state the valuation is based on the car being essentially pristine. So anything that isn't 100% perfect will get knocked down a bit. If I'd have added the chips to the valuation online, they'd have already factored them in and reduced the value, but I decided to let them code it up in their system as they saw fit once they saw it in person. Fortunately the rest of the car was pristine, so no other route for them to knock money off smile went in knowing it would get a bit knocked off, but still got £4k+ more than their offer 2 months ago, took 20 mins, and was zero hassle compared to selling privately.

Haven’t tried WBAC recently, as usually found they gave lower values than Motorway.

I got rid of a Merc C200 estate via Motorway last year, and got nearly £1000 more than the initial valuation when they put it through their auction system, with no knock down for two scuffed alloys and a scrape and small nick in the front bumper.

My 2010 Cayman S has gone from £18k to nearly £24k on Motorway in four months.

WBAC are offering me slightly more than Motorway but I suspect they will lower the offer more for anything resembling damage

I paid £5k for a Mini Clubman 18 months ago and WBAC offered me just over £4k a month back which I thought was mad. But then looking at how much I'd have to spend to get a similar spec/mileage now on AT, I'd have to spend at least another £500 over what I paid...

Have used car prices increased generally due to the shortage of the chip thingys required resulting in a shortage of new cars?

A combination of this sort of topic and man maths risks costing a fortune! Bought my car off lease company just over a year ago, paying £11250. Wbac quote this morning £15k.

That's on a private plate, which from previous experience devalues the wbac by about £250, so taking that into account, less admin fee, less alloy scuff likely to walk away with £15k.

I'm happy with the car and would only end up spending more, so it's a false economy.... but soo tempting.

I'm guessing it's pent up demand + the spare cash folks have saved up in the last year. Autotrader and YouTube are my top 2 visited sites and I already have 3 cars! I'd rather avoid the likes of WBAC / Motorway though - it's a shame no one stepped in to replace Toodle - always got sensible offers from dealers straight off.

I do feel sorry for bob@bob.com - when I realised that was probably a real address I changed to bob@bob.bob. Good old Professor Bob Bobson, of 808 Bob St, Bobville.
On a related note someone@somewhere.com gets all my spam!

I do also do the <name of company>@<mydomain> as well for email I want, WBAC have sent a few emails but haven't spammed me with loads, sold them on or had them be stolen (typically before denying all knowledge).

My friend has just put in his Golf.

The local VW dealer has offered £29,000

WBAC offered £31,000 today.

I'll report back when he's taken it there.
