My friend has just put in his Golf.

The local VW dealer has offered £29,000

WBAC offered £31,000 today.

I'll report back when he's taken it there.
WBAC are likely to knock him down unless he has declared every single bit of damage including stone chips whee as VW would have likely overlooked most small marks but its unlikely WBAC are going to knock him down £2k so seems a good idea.

An interesting article in the dealer magazine, hope my link works.

https://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publish/dealers-wa...

Certainly a sellers market right now?

And WBAC are now selling stock direct to the public via Cinch.

That means they're keeping the best cars from WBAC for themselves, leaving dealers to buy the leftovers.

Interesting times.

He's just sold it to them.

Just the admin fee to knock off, so they didn't try to chip him at all.

Although it was a 20 plate Golf with no marks on it.

Fair play, result there then.

Although being a sellers market one would assume all cars have gone up in 'value' so to speak so assuming you are selling to buy something different, its likely you will pay the increased price of any new car.

Good time to sell if you are downsizing the number of cars you have though, perhaps those who have 2 but now working from home so can get by with one etc

I've put umpteen cars into WBAC any never had more than 3-4 emails each time. No phone calls, although I may get the number wrong, silly me.

Given the amount of spam my what must be a 20 year old email address gets it's not really a problem.
I put my car in about six months ago and they e-mail me about twice a month. Sure I could unsubscribe but never got round to it.

Thanks for the update! Seems they are very fair then.

My 69 plate i30N is currently worth around £4k more than the finance currently held against it according to WBAC. Whilst I'm enjoying some "free" motoring, it has given me itchy feet to capitalise on the inflated value and roll it into something else.

My mate sold his Mustang V8 to WBAC on bank holiday Monday just gone. They knocked £395 off for stone chips. He owned it for 2 years 2 months, got back £2200 less than he paid for it. He’d been keeping an eye of the WBAC prices for quite a while.

I wonder if some of these offers are the equivalent of loss leaders- I.e. they are overpaying to get premium stock into Cinch - so it starts to become seen as a viable alternative to main dealers.
I think it's exactly this. Pretty sure that's where my Merc is headed. The amount they're spending on TV advertising, they really need to get some stock!

Sounds very plausible. Valued two of our cars for interest a couple of weeks ago. The 4yo 118d, which I imagine is prime Cinch fodder - has had two more improved offers since then. They're now offering £250 less than it cost me from a franchised dealer two years ago.

I'm in the car market looking to change my car, just my luck. The inventory at most dealerships is real low at the moment, never seen it this bad before.

I too had a look out of interest.

My RAV4 cost me £14k from a main dealer 18 months ago. WBAC offering £13,735.

However, if you look at main dealer stock those prices have gone up too. A car the same age as mine (and thus now 18 months older than when I made my purchase) is at least £1,000-£1,500 more.

My 9 month old X5 is getting an offer of £3,500 over what I owe on pcp. Very tempted to sell it to them and order an M340i rolling the equity into the deposit with similar monthlies.

We’ve sold a few cars via WBAC and I really rate them. Twice we have sold nearly new cars to them for more than retail (less than 12mths old and under 3k miles).

I’ve always found them really fair as well re value and condition as long as you’re completely transparent about your situation.

What I do dislike is their spam - sold a TTRS to them 3+ years ago now and I’m still getting messages from them asking about me selling it and the current price, madness!

£27k for my 440i. Paid £28.5k last year for it. Wow that's not bad at all... and I don't actually need my car these days.

Although £27k could put a decent dent into the cost of a MY20 Giulia QV... Tempting biggrin

They're persistent, increased offer #3 just arrived, now £250 more than I paid for it.

Well seems as its such a wait for a factory build, i have managed to find a dealer with a 21 plate "Pre Reg" in very nice spec:
Twisted Orange
Custom Pack 2
Rear Spoiler
Magna-Ride

Up for £46,600, which seems pretty good value since its available. They have provisionally offered me £26K PX for mine which doesn't seem too bad, as i know WBAC will find bits to knock off the £27K!!

Have paid a £100 holding deposit, and am off to have a discussion tomorrow!!

Shame its in sodding Peterborough, which is a 3H drive!

I sold my B9 19 plate RS4 to WBAC recently, I turned up expecting them to turn me over. It was a pop up in Matalan car park and the fella wasn't wearing any form of uniform to say the least.

We had a chat and and he was quite interesting.

I paid them £38, they took the car and the mega finance of 55k plus and I walked to the station to get a taxi home.

Painless, 30 mins and I was frankly astonished at the valuation and after a tiny bit of dancing agreed price and no hassle with finance company etc.

Ford have an offer on at the moment that is guaranteed £100 more than WBAC, worth hunting down online for the details.
