We Buy Any Car Valuation, Surely Not?.....

Oh I certainly don’t expect them to just give me the valuation from the website without trying to knock the price down. The beauty now of the likes of Motorway is you can get offers for the vehicle without having to physically take the vehicle anywhere with it all being done online and so if you don’t like their price you can just refuse to sell the vehicle to them.
Yeah the problem I had was that the website valuation gave one figure, then when I spoke them (because the website was unintuitive and I wasn’t clear to me whether my car was listed or not, and at what target price) the guy on the phone talked the car down and said list it or leave it. So I left it and got more from WBAC with no fuss whatsoever. griffter said:

I’ve been a long time lurker watching prices of the used market closely lately as considering selling my 2017 Fiesta ST due to largely now WFH in my employment.
For those interested I had the following valuations from Motorway on the following dates:
October 2021
£14,153
December 2021
£13,423
As of today January 26 2022
£14,753
Looks like prices are back on the up after Christmas?
Admittedly my vehicle is 1 owner, FSH and low mileage for its age, but they are now offering me £653 more than I paid new for the car nearly 5 years ago!
In my experience what Motorway tell you online and what Motorway tell you on the phone are two different things. For those interested I had the following valuations from Motorway on the following dates:

WBAC valuation held up over the last 6 months though although Cazoo is now lower.
So still going crazy

It does show how much is dependent on mileage. For those interested I had the following valuations from Motorway on the following dates:

I have the same car, 2017 ST3 but high miles (74k). Yesterday’s WBAC offer was £8795
I think they do pay a lot more for cars that will be easy to move on.
I keep valuing my (ex) car on WBAC and Cazoo out of interest. FOMO I guess.
Anyway WBAC are now offering their best price ever, but interestingly it is £300 higher going to the website and entering fresh data than it is clicking the update link in their reminder email. These quotes were done 5 mins apart.
Cazoo up but still lower than WBAC.

My recent experience of selling my GR Yaris through Motorway was smooth. Had it up privately for a short while but was higher mileage (8k) than most of the others on there and most are for sale at dealers so priced it under those and still had not much interest other than a guy trying to lowball it even more.
WBAC were offering £33-34k 6 months ago, dropped to about £31k when I came to selling and Motorway suggested a reserve of £32.6k, sold within a day for £32.9k to a VW dealer across the country. Not bad considering I had it up privately for £33.5k. Difference was paid in my account immediately and finance should be settled this week.
Not sure how much profit there will be in the car as I reckon it'll maybe sell for £34k if they're lucky but any profit is profit I guess?

My wife's had a car on order since July last year, and we're collecting it on the 1st March. The value of her current car has been hovering around £16,500-17,000 since she ordered it, and the mileage hasn't increased dramatically, but the valuation on WBAC has absolutely tanked over the last couple of weeks, down to £16,000, £15,500 and today £14,800!
Is this them taking advantage of people picking up cars on 1st March and hoping people will have no choice but to take the low offer?
We aren't obliged to sell it straight away, it can sit in the garage for a month or two if the prices are likely to go back up, but is this the start of a genuine correction do we think?
I've also put the feelers out to local dealers to see if any of them want to buy it.

My son (with a little help from his old man!) had several planets align late last year....he was offered £300 less than he paid for his 3 year old / 27k mile Volvo D2 R Design by WBAC...we took this to a VW dealer who agreed to match this price as a p/x for a new pre-ordered ID-3 which after discounts (government, dealer, finance...settled within 14 days, so cost nothing but gave a £1500 discount) cost just over £24k OTR.
Handed the Volvo over 2 days from warranty expiry / mot / major service.
WBAC are now offering £31,600 for the ID3....
Crazy times.

Attempting to sell a 530i f10 via motorway at the moment and was offered 9.4k initially and after photos of the service history they are knocking 1.2k off the price because its not been serviced every 10k, even though BMW state 25k /2yrs. lol.
Had similar when selling my A4 years ago to WBAC. Because there were no dates in the service book only mileages, there was 'no proof' it had been serviced every two years as per the requirements. local bloke wanted to knock over £1000 off as not FSH. I was ready to leave when he called his manager who told him it was ok. The fact it was a four and half year old car on nearly 100k with five service stamps meant nothing apparently Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
