Need for speed ....no more , help with dog car
Discussion
First dog car was an M135i - my Golden Retriever used to sit in the front footwell when he was a puppy, then progressed to the back seats and a harness to go to doggy day care and for a good walk on a Sunday.
Then I bought a Touareg, specifically for him to go in the boot of on the way back from a muddy dog walk. He sat and looked at the boot, steadfastly refusing to go in. Opened the back door and he was in like a shot.
I swapped the Touareg for a Jag XJ. He enjoyed the back seat of that, too.
Current car is my wife’s Volvo v40. He likes the back seat, detests the boot, although he does put his paws on the opening, which is progress of a sort.
I’m about to be in the market for a new car, so I’m going to do what everyone who lives in the countryside and has pretensions of grandeur does, and buy an old Range Rover. The dog will, no doubt, detest going in the boot, but for his once a week muddy walk, I’m sure he’ll cope. Plus I’ll enjoy driving it for the other 6 days that he’s not with me. Now I’m wfh, with the odd client visit it even makes a supercharged one seem sensible.

Not sure which of their cars have them now but I had an older Civic with the 'magic seats' which fold completely flat OR let you fold up the seat base which gave a load of space in the back behind the seats. One thing to consider is how you dog likes to travel though, does it want to be looking out a window the whole time or does it like to curl up and sleep in smaller space?
One thing I'd make sure you have is good air conditioning in the back!

Also, make sure you post a picture of the doggo at some point so we can all coo over it.

I know this is a bit personal, so don't feel like you have to answer on here, but is the dog a test run baby?
If so, consider the next size up, e class / superb etc.
Our labrador can fit lengthways in half the boot width, meaning we have half the boot sectioned off for buggy etc. Happily the years of buggies are coming to an end for me, so I'll soon be downsizing to something of a similar size to the golf/civic.
Just something to consider.

But I will bear that in mind !
