I know you don’t want to default to a Boxster but I’m selling a great one now. V low mileage ??
Sorry no, common as muck around where I live and no desire to join the hoard lolI think whether everybody else has one is a valid reason not to want something.
A car is an extension of yourself, for us its not just about a it being a utility vehicle. OP wants to show that he is interested in cars and is a bit different not your average buyer who bought based on reviews/residuals and finance rates.

I'm another one that likes to have a rare car, and I like my 370Z for that. The Cerbera/Z4M and the 200SX I used to have were pretty rare cars too, and you never saw that many of them about.
As mentioned I think that it is good to be a little bit individual, and not always go for the obvious pick. However I have also gone for the more common cars as well with the M3 and M4 though, and you see loads of 3 and 4 series on the roads for sure.

I get that people like to try to be different and think that they can do this with an item that they've bought, still daft though. Sorry no, common as muck around where I live and no desire to join the hoard lolObviously its not something that you personally would consider as part of your purchase choices, but that doesn't make it daft. Im sure whatever decision making levers you have for buying a car are very important to you, I wouldn't say they were daft.

So I am narrowing it down to
SLK55
Is the correct answer SLK55
It would be amazing to pick up a well sorted one, I am going to keep my eyes open as I know looking at the VX220 market at the moment mine would sell at a premium in the blink of an eye so could move pretty quickly.

It also has other performance upgrades. It’s not the same as any other SLK. If I got one it would be the only one probably within 50miles of me, in that same radius there will be hundreds of boxsters.
Anyway I’m not getting derailed by your point of view. An SLK55 is rare and something to consider as well as being a V8 and an AMG (both on the list of must own at some point)

Not that there is anything wrong with those cars.

I appreciate that but that’s like saying an escort RS cosworth wasn’t anything special, different or rare and was just an escort. It’s obvious for any petrol head you are getting something special and something rare, just because joe bloggs can’t tell the difference is irrelevant.
If JDM car prices hadn’t sky rocketed lately I would definitely have been casting an eye there. An Evo 6 would have been one of those I would like to own at one point.

I went from a VX220 (granted sold it in 2016 when I moved abroad) to a Cayman, which I got last year, for your budget it's pretty much the only choice I reckon, slightly less fun, but with a lot more comfort and still quick. I love mine.
However that said, I sometimes wish when I got back from the US I went back to the 2 car garage to get another VX, I miss mine a lot. The Cayman is awesome and is a daily (I couldn't live with a VX daily as I'm getting older now), but I sometimes look at it and wish I still had VX.
To be perfectly honest, in your shoes, I'd keep the VX.
