Cheeky bds. That would have me asking for my deposit back.

WTF is wrong with car dealers thinking they are doing us a favour by taking our money, for fairly everyday VAG stuff (no offence intended, it's a nice car but it's hardly a new 911 GT!)?

Agreed just wanted to warn everyone currently considering a Skoda what to expect. They are by far the worst manufacturer to deal with currently, with the worst lead times.
I think this is obvious. If VAG is going to sacrifice any part of its business due to shortages it will be Skoda where I imagine the margins are tightest. I wonder if Porsche are doing okay?😁

They haven't escaped either but no doubt fairing better. Cayenne production has been down and wiring looms for Taycan apparently come from Ukraine.
Whole bloody thing is a mess!

I'm waiting on a Hilux that was due this month and [according to broker] the Toyota dealer is saying he's in same boat, not able to provide any indication as to when it will be delivered.

From residuals and conversation with my rep, they’ve been stung badly as well.

Just before Xmas I could have sold my 3 y/o Cayenne for a £4k loss. Prices have dropped a few £k since but seem to be going back up. And I booked it in for MOT and the dealerships buyer pinged me straight away to arrange to meet so he could make me an offer.

I don’t drive much, so I should really have sold it before Xmas and got my money back on it (putting an order in). Chalk it up as a rare win after years of getting my pants pulled down. But I had a niggling feeling as soon as I did, life/universe/god would bring me back to reality with a change of circs meaning I needed a car immediately.

For those asking, yes was Nationwide, I have emailed then asking what my options are if I wanted to cancel, not heard a thing back. Also asked them if they get any earlier cancellations to give me a shout. It was for the Sportline 1.5 DSG in meteor gray on a 6+23 @ £285

Sorry you're having that and cheers for the heads up. I could well be wrong, but I do think it depends on whether you are going through a broker or a dealer. Or how decent the dealer is.

I've had a screenshot of the build date software emailed through to me showing my car with a build slot of week 3 of September. I ordered at the end of January through a main dealer who matched the best broker price. Of course, this build slot may not happen, but it's a lot more reassuring than saying they've no idea and don't contact us.

Just thought I'd flag it for anyone else - might be worth contacting your dealer for a build date before giving up on it.

Unfortunately I don’t think it really matters who you order through, unless it’s someone unscrupulous (taking orders without booking build slots).

If you look on some of the other threads, you’ll see people have been left high and dry by everyone, including main dealers. They are given build slots/dates and they just get pushed to later dates as the build date approaches.

Provided dealers/brokers are upfront about current issues you can’t really blame them.

Happy to be redirected but couldn’t find much searching sorry. Sister in law had one of the decent bmw 420i deals but can’t extend any further. Bmw don’t do buy back option and it goes straight to bca. Anyone have any ideas how best she could buy it? Agree an admin fee with a dealer with a bca account maybe?

I also have a BMW 420i. If you order another lease with BMW Finance or Alphera finance, you can get it extended until the new car is delivered. With the new car deliveries taking such long time, I am sure you can cancel the order if you come accross a decent deal elsewhere while you are waiting.

interesting premise and i think it's a great idea, if it works in practice. all the current lease prices are (probably) way higher than we currently pay and securing a new lease with small £300 ish deposit on 52 week delivery then cancelling nearer the time and lsoing your £300 is very much worth it

Got my Ibiza TSI Xcellence Lux DSG7 from Nationwide this morning, nice smooth process

6+23, £191 per month including full maint

Ordered Oct 21 for Jan 22 Del. Ended up being pushed back twice and got it today, finally!

Gave it a thrash for 10 mins, really surprised how well it goes for a 1.0 3 pot and I come from a Leon Cupra 300!
Pleased to hear this! I ordered mine back in November and, having been pushed back twice, I now have early June as the estimated delivery date so fingers crossed this is now accurate.

1+35, 10,000pa, £202 per month without maintenance.

I returned my 420i on the same deal back in February. It then appeared on autotrader a month later and is still for sale. The vehicle was purchased from auction by Stratstone BMW and is still available for sale 2 months on. Interestingly enough they’ve dropped the price by 2k since they first listed it and its still for sale now.

Having a look on autotrader there is plenty for sale due to the amount being returned from the lease deal I assume. I’d either advise to return the vehicle and wait till it pops up on autotrader and go buy it or look through whats listed on autotrader now from whats already been returned. There is lots of 1 owner, white automatic 420i listed and the prices are reducing due to the influx I assume.

Might be worth contacting BCA to see if they can facilitate the sale.

They have a "Driver Sales" team which does this for a number of lease firms. I know when I helped my dad buy his car at the end of his lease (leaseplan were the provider), the quote and invoicing and sale were through BCA Driver Sales, rather than buying the car from Leaseplan direct.

I got a letter at the end of my Q5 lease saying I could contact BCA Driver Sales to get a quote to buy it. Seem to remember it was a form online somewhere.

I was hoping I might get a quote like £2-3k under market value to save them all the hassle of transporting it etc, but they came back about £5-6k over market value so they were swiftly told to poke it.

Got my Audi A3 S Line delivered 1st April (no joke!), ordered through Pink Leasing which everyone was warning me about (I think some of the horror stories were return damage/wear charges), but the agreement is through Arval as it happens, but tbh the whole experience was decent. Admittedly when I ordered June 2021 for an Oct/Nov del that was immediately delayed but they were ok with updates regarding delivery and once it was in I received the car fairly sharpish. That was coming from a Skoda lease (~60mpg redface ) so I was luckily able to informally extend anyway.
The Audi is 1+35 £245/mth. 5k/yr miles (already on 2k bandit ).

Excellent! Mine is due early next month. Is it set for long life/2 year service?

Asked a couple of times for quotes to buy on end of contract company car leases. Neither was even remotely interesting, one I just cracked out laughing, and the guy at the other end surprisingly agreed. I got the impression driver sales were just a pain.

Although one of them sent paperwork out setting out conditions of sale and warranty before they'd even been asked. Which they weren't ever going to be as I was sick of the sight and sound of the heap.
