If you want one of those American electric sedans then it’s over £700 a month for 10k pa.

That’s why it does work for electric cars… more expensive to buy but cheaper to run.

For example, I pay £291 for my ID3 for 10k per year. I never (so far) use a charger away from my house, therefore it costs me 7.5p per Kw to charge my car. If I do 10k per year, it costs £187.50 per year to charge the car or £15.63pm.

To do the same mileage in a petrol car at 40mpg it costs £1591 or £132.58 per month. So, the total cost of the ID3 per month is £306.63. For me to get the same expenditure with a petrol car, the monthly lease cost would need to be £174.05.

Show me a deal for a similar spec car to my ID3 Tour Pro S for that money and I will buy you a pint or two.

You wouldn’t be able to get anything like that deal on Your ID3 now.

I agree; my point is more to do with the fact that people look at the cost of an EV and use the calculation and say it’s not a good deal.

Wife's lease Tiguan 150hp Elegance spec was driven last week whilst parked by a blind bus driver, wrecking the entire driver side from front to rear

It's going to need a fair amount of work to rectify which could mean write-off and whilst we await the insurers decision, I thought I would check some current prices for EV salary sacrifice cars through my work Tusker scheme for potential replacements

These cars are all supposedly in stock/available in 6-8 weeks and costs are based on 3 & 4 year schemes at 10k miles per year for a Scottish 42% taxpayer, including nil deposit, full maintenance, tyres, insurance and redundancy protection, etc

It's a pity the ID4 Style doesn't have a power tailgate, as otherwise it has everything my wife would like such as pano-roof, matrix LEDs, heated windscreen & steering wheel, with similar power to her Tiguan. She'd probably get 4-5 days commute out of the battery before a full charge needed.

As well as a good saving on petrol vs charging costs, £430 p/m net overall sacrifice for 3 years seem reasonable value?

Looking for some advice on returning a vehicle. My BMW 2series is due for collection next month. Two alloys are scuffed / chipped / bit of a mess. Finance is through Alphabet and their damage recharges state alloy scuffs will be £80. Does anyone know if this is per scuff/chip or is that for the entire wheel?
Trying to balance up whether to have them repaired pre inspection or not.

That’s a question for your accountant. For some, it works out better to switch to a personal lease and claim milage rather than get a business lease through a company when transitioning.

There is a red Cupra Leon hatch back on Zen Auto for anyone that missed the deals before.

£500 up front and 23 x £303 for 5,000 miles.

Key things to do are:

- Compare against a "retail" lease deal (because a lot of the sal-sac specialists bump up their gross prices to make sure the net is still profitable).
- Take into account the BIK tax you'll have to pay as well. It won't be much on an electric car but could add £30 a month.

Yeah, all good points.

The figures I put into that spreadsheet table also take into account any BIK as part of the reduced tax/NI columns

"Self employed" and "through my company" are incompatible - you're either self employed or an employee of a company which you own, the legal status is very different as is the tax treatment.

The short answer in most cases is electric have it through the company (whether purchased or leased), hybrid run the numbers as depends on the efficiency, petrol/diesel do it personally and charge the company for the business mileage. As with most things there can be exceptions where the above doesn't apply.

Without specifics on the car, the lease cost (both on a personal and business basis) the mileage done personally, mileage done for business, your income levels etc etc then can't give an informed answer so your accountant is the best person to run the numbers and give you an answer.

I’m self employed and have done BCH and PCH. Personally I’ve found claiming the 45p / mile easier and more beneficial in my case.

I’ve gone back to PCH.

Delivery quoted as May-June.
Metallic seems to add about £25pm.

On the Tesla model y configurator.

The Y is a really great car, but the image it and the 3 has of a “exclusive” and aspirational car with Joe Public needs to go.

I can’t even count how many families I know with a Y or a 3, yet they get a holy image.

As an alternative just had this from Silverstone Leasing, higher initial payment and less miles though:
