12 seconds is far too slow for city driving.


I got my sister a Fiat 500 e for her first car which does 0-60 in 8.5seconds and that feels about right for city driving. Nice and nippy. And its easy to park. The Swift is bulbous.


Yaris hybrid is a much better option too, one of my colleagues just got one for her first car, I drove it partly back from the showroom and I found it perfectly OK. I think its around 10 seconds.


And I have had experience of slow cars. I spent 2 years driving a Polo with only 59bhp and took nearly 16 seconds to get to 60. Never again…

Yes, but that’s an EV, so will have a pleasing amount of zip from standstill to about 30 and then tail off to a slower pace, whereas the Suzuki is a mild hybrid meaning it’s just a weedy 48V battery stuck to a naturally aspirated engine. It will be more revvy and have a more linear power band but with the expense of having only 83 ft/lb (112Nm) of torque. The Suzuki would feel, and be, slower around town than the Mii.

I didn’t click the deal, but if it’s an Auto, it’s also a CVT. I think I’d rather shoot myself than sign a contract to be locked into driving a CVT Swift around.

It's actually a 12v battery and I'm in no particular hurry. Each to their own eh. I've had slower cars before and been driving them in and out of London for 18 years. It's really not a problem for me and probably many others

You know the way this works... minimum threshold for a "good" car is 200bhp/tonne

Thank you, It was me , I counted this out as it is quite slow and having driven a non turbo car before they are asthmatic. Will go for the new MG3+ hybrid seems to tick the right boxes across the small hatchbacks

Thank you also just took a look on AA. It is definately a lower spec than the cooper S would be worth seeing what other offers appear in May as these are all stock vehicles

If Cooper S was a Classic trim it would be broadly the same spec, just faster. I'm not saying I know any more than you, but are you saying you expect an influx of new 5-dr ones? I just assumed Plant Oxford was tooled up for the F66 now so that was it for the old F55/56/57 generation and I jumped to the conclusion there would then be a bit of a barren spell while they pre-ordered vehicles out.

AFAIK deals are the same as previously. Nothing good on the Model 3 (yet). And £399/£499/£599 inc VAT for the Model Y on a 9+35 for 10k per year.

Come on! Yaris hybrid is group 12. It'll be because of repairability, maybe slow speed of parts delivery, something like that. It's a Suzuki problem not a drivetrain problem.

Some decent rates for the Model 3 are overdue. Tesla have been milking those who wanted a 'highland' updated Model 3 for the last few months. But are the Model Y rates going down?

no they were not included. Even if they have the same headline rentals, they will vary depending on term and mileage.

I'm in the market for a Y. Is it likely that a broker could undercut Tesla directly? e.g Y RWD £399 on 9+35 (no broker fee). Whats the incentive to use a broker?
