We have two Essentials - a 70 plate Duster and a 22 plate Jogger. We're big fans of this trim level, and I know it's become a cliche for the Dacia brand but they really have everything you need and nothing that you don't. They drive exactly the same as the higher-spec models. I think the Essentials are equipped better than base models from some other brands too, plus the extra amount of car you get - space and practicality is valuable.

Anyway - here's some pics!

What's not to like?

Build quality. Isnt it under the Renault umbrella?
Styling. It has none.
Cheap materials used
Reliable?
Too much plastic for my liking.

Yep, part of the the Renault Nissan alliance, tried and tested tech.
Too much plastic, or not enough soft touch plastic, all car interiors are plastic.
Personally I think it looks great, saying it doesn't have any styling doesn't make sense, most other cars on the road are massively very styled.
And they are very reliable, they were scored second after Lexus in one of the reliability and satisfaction polls.

You may not like it but that doesn't make it bad.

Interesting as the styling/materials comment is partly what tempted me to put my name down. I cringe every time I see an overstyled runaround with faux sporting credentials and 'soft touch' plastics. For my 'boring' car I just want something with a big boot that will get from A to B with a minimum of stuck on chrome trim. Delighted to see these have a sticker for a name badge.

I wonder who it is who actually gets into a car and starts fingerings the dashboard to see if its hard or soft. All I touch are the controls, wheel and gear knob. I don't feel the need to caress the door plastics or fondle the instrument surround. I want it to all be neat and where you'd expect things, but not worried how it feels if I poke it.

I actually like the look and feel of the Jogger, it feels more refined and mainstream than the Duster, for example.

Last I heard was 2023. Supposed to start at £20k but that was before all these price rises.

I heard similar, I think they were trying to keep the entry level car below 20k, might not happen over here as Dacia UK has ditched essential spec. They get more options in Europe. There are still too many UK buyers that see cars as an aspirational thing (I've been that buyer in the past). To me cars like the Jogger and the Bigster are perfect do it all family wagons.

Sounds like not the car for you.

Cheap materials in a cheap car is OK

Build quality from my experience is there with all other cars of today which is generally very good.

Reliability - there's no reason to believe they'd be unreliable. I'd be more interested in how easy they are to fix as reliability tends to be pretty inherent these days.

Styling - I love the styling of these but hope they don't continue down the consumer road they seem to be on.

Dacia rang me after I emailed to see why my order keeps getting bumped, it's now coming in August for definite, mine will be the first extreme SE delivery to Bristol Street, its the other orders that are October.

Much happier now!

The Jogger seems to be an ideal replacement for my BMW Gran Tourer when the kids get bigger.

Moonstone grey, originally was going to go for white but then thought grey might be a better colour when I come to change in 3/4 years. Will post pics on your thread when it arrives

Still yet to see a Jogger on the road.

There is a pdf online of accessories available to purchase for the Jogger, interior stuff, phone charger, roof boxes etc. There are no prices and I can't find price lists for their other cars either. Does anyone know where this can be found?
I'm interested in a tow bar and the 3 bike carrier.

Have a look on here, they list a lot of genuine accessories, I've bought a couple of Duster bits off them.

The swan neck towbar and 13 pin electrics are approx £340 as an accessory plus fitting. It's cheaper to order the car with a towbar, which is fitted at the U.K distribution centre. Think it's just over £400 fitted.
