I posted up in the EV section of the forum a few weeks ago deciding between a EQA/EQC but since have had second thoughts and am now considering PHEVs too.

I want a Mercedes as I get preferential rates with them meaning I can pretty much choose anything apart from an S Class/GLS etc.

Currently deciding between the following 3

1. GLE 350de Coupe - Decent Electric only range with an okayish diesel engine for longer trips, looks kinda cool (I know, I know).

2. EQC - Still undecided whether the range will be an issue as I do sometimes have 500 mile days but the fuel cost savings are quite tempting and I might be willing to mull about at services to achieve those savings. Only nag on this one is that it's going to be replaced soon and the interior is a little old hat compared to the rest of the MB Range

3. New C Class Estate - 60 mile electric range which will be sufficient for commuting and most weekly usage with the diesel engine for going further afield. Decent size for London driving and more importantly parking, new MB interior is reallly good looking imo but lacking the cool factor a little bit maybe.

What would you go for?

If you haven't owned a BEV yet, I think a PHEV makes a good stepping stone transition. You will still be eligible for the OLEV grant so you can get a home charger socket installed while not being reliant on it. If you buy a BEV, you'll have an agonising wait while you get a charger installed, having to pay over the odds charging up at a service station.

With that in mind, I'd pick the C300DE estate. It really is the best of both worlds.

I'd take a good look at the GLC400d it's a cracking drivetrain.

This will be my first electrified car, I had an i3 for a couple of months and while it was fantastic, I did find that the charging aspect of ownership was a bit of a struggle for me (poor planning on my end admittedly).

The head says C300DE for sure, latest merc interior & hybrid tech on it is pretty impressive.

Inner chav says GLC Coupé but realistically it'll be a paint to park and I'll probably look a bit of a wker

400d is brilliant, I agree. Looking to try some sort of electrification as it's something a bit different to the norm and I can't quite afford to run a decent petrol engined car for my daily usage sadly.

The 400d drivetrain is a peach of a unit, I'd recommend finding an GLC/E/CLS that has that engine.

We're considering hybrid for our next car, currently in a 2014 Evoque we've owned from new.
Currently looking at the GLC hybrid. Trouble is when we start looking at actual real world MPG (ie not skewed by the electric only range) the fuel economy seems to be a lot worse than standard ICE (would be the 300D if we bought ICE).
GLC electric only is about 26-30 miles real world from what we can see.

Go for the GLE, seriously good looking car. I've opted for this as it's my transition into fully electric.
