Hi all,

I’m in need of a decent sized commuter vehicle.
I think I’ve narrowed it down to a few options but just wanted to see if there was anything I have missed or if there is anyone with experience of the below.

Diesel, auto, less than 40,000 miles ideally is what I’m looking for with a budget of around 25k

I’ve narrowed it down to:

Audi A6 40Tdi S line
BMW 520d
Jaguar XF 2.0d

All of the above 2018 or newer

I’m edging towards the A6 as things stand. Any other suggestions welcomed.

Thanks

I know somebody with a C8 A6 Avant TDI 40 Sport. It rides better than previous versions, but the interior isn't as well made and it sometimes throws up random warning messages.

Percy.

I have a C8 A6 40TDI SLine saloon as my company car, it goes back in July after 3 years.

I've never had any issues with it, it's been a great long distance car, I controversially like the dual screen setup for infotainment and heaters.

Personally I'd err towards a 6 pot diesel for smoother power delivery and mid-range torque.

Other than the usual suspects there's the Maserati Ghibli

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111109...

If a you definitely want a 4-pot then a Volvo S90/D90, Alfa Giulia and a E-Class 220d are worth considering. The Merc and Volvo may have a comfier ride than the Audi.

I am not fixed on a 4 pot however they are more than adequate for my needs and are generally a bit cheaper. Having had a few Mercedes including an E class 220d for my last few cars I fancy something else.

The Maserati is an interesting choice, I’ll take a closer look. Thanks.

Why isn't the E-class on the list? Maybe a bit bland compared with the competition?

Agree with the 6-pot comment. Our E350 family car is lovely to drive, very quick but also combined MPG in the 40s. 9-speed gearbox helps a lot and better than the earlier 7-speed cars.

Was just looking on autotrader and you can't get an 2018 E350 in budget so bad suggestion.

Some alternates to the above.

Kia Stinger GT Line 200, a very good well appointed car that's a good steer & you'll also have 4 years/80k of warranty left too:

Infiniti Q70 Sport 170 good car with Mercedes drivetrain & you'll be healthily in budget:

From your list the XF would be my pick.

Don't go for a C7 A6 at this budget, which is probably what you're looking for. It was released in 2012/2013, and is quite an old platform now

This is the only C8 I ca nsee available for 25k
If you can stretch 26-28k then you'll get into a fairly high mileage C8, but with a decent amount of manufacturer warranty remaining

That is similar for the G30 5 series, don't get an F10, go for a G30. Better and newer car

Wow thanks. KIA is something I had not even considered, will take a closer look.

I was indeed looking at C8 and G30 cars only. My budget can stretch very slightly. There are a few C8’s around £27k with less than 35000 miles and around 3 years old

Cool. If you can manage to get a late 19 plate you may find yourself with some warranty remaining, if not get a car under 60k miles and the BMW / Audi warranty options are quite reasonable in cost.

Does the Peugeot 508 do anything for you?

Or Lexus ES with a bit of budget stretch.
