I’m not 100% sure which vehicle to go for next, I want a 4wd vehicle that is fairly reliable, fairly spacious too, probably 99% on road and anything off road would be light but also need it to pull a caravan few times a year too, don’t want anything terrible on fuel, e.g 20mpg average.
My favourite would be a land cruiser LC4 maybe 2005ish as cheaper tax - I’ve got a mid 90’s Toyota truck at the moment and it’s been amazing, will probably keep going for another few years yet! And have had Toyotas for 15 years so know how reliable and effortless to drive they are too!
Otherwise my thoughts are on a Jeep Grand Cherokee - I quite like the look of these and they are supposed to be fairly decent trucks.
A Volvo XC90 D5
or a Land Rover disco 3/4 however the horror stories of them breaking often put me off, are they really as bad as people say or would it be a case of find a well looked after one and it should do you well for a while!
Is there anything obvious I am missing? Not totally keen either on the £600 a year tax for after 2006 models!
Probably wouldn’t want to spend too much more than £10k max.

You say 4WD but describe 4WD SUVs. How about a AWD estate (or saloon)? How much ground clearance do you need?

To be honest I’d prefer something high as i like being higher up in vehicles!
