Feel a bit sorry for the guy - parting with his dad's car - doesn't realise it's an absolute piece of sh*t !!

Are there even any good parts to make it worthwhile? Engine and gearbox aside it's a complete mess.

"Beloved"

I'd hate to see what his stuff looks like when it's not cherished.

A quick Fb search brought this up, first link.

About a 1/3rd cheaper. OP says it's got a gearbox leak and that's the reason for sale.

Edit MOT history suggests it's had a circa 100k haircut, ouch.

It's properly farked, innit.

As ever the presence of P6000 tyres serves as a fairly reliable early warning sign.

It's that day for the CL today

Chatting to the garage and it's had the new brake test rollers installed. No more ignoring a lazy handbrake - the results go straight to DLVA electronically.

Easy answer - just use this thread and ignore the rest, Shirley?
That is the easy answer, although that takes a degree of discipline that I don't possess.

I'm pretty disheartened by what's happening to my "hobby" of st cars and enthusiastic driving generally, but PH at large has become a community that I really don't want to be a part of any more, it might as well be the "Daily Express" forum for the miserable, angry, intolerant, insecure, entitled, closed minded, and belligerent attitude of 80% of the posters, and their complete lack of real knowledge or enthusiasm for cars and driving.

It serves to reinforce every single negative stereotype about people who are "into cars", and I just don't need that in what is supposedly recreational time. The straw that broke the camels back was a recent series of interactions that all descended into a thoroughly tedious time wasting interactions with the sort of people I've worked tirelessly to have no contact with throughout my life. Time to nope out, same as I have done with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and all the other Castles of dom that the 21st century has wrought.

I am so very tempted by one of these. More than four cylinders powered by the correct fuel, within thread budget and not silver, black or grey.

Of a 180 degree spin on a slightly damp arrow straight road at 15MPH in my experience.

That looks bloody lovely. Our former threadist r129 had a lovely one of these in green and it looked like a fabulous way to travel.

Agreed on the soshal meeja - I binned FB ages ago and do not miss it one jot. I am on LinkedIn somewhere but I only created that when I was made redundant.

I think I know to what you refer on the tedious interactions. Some odd folk about and I stopped reading it. Flogging a dead horse.

Never found them an issue on a barge - over the years I've run them on loads of Senators/Carltons in both Heather-mills-matics and Spanish waiters as well as BMW 740 E38

Small car like a horrid little hatchback with an asthmatic four pot of a soul destroying capacity - 100% agree - absofkinglutely lethal

Same experience - they were fine on a V70 T5, absolutely "would buy again" fine, but were, without the slightest exaggeration, lethally dangerous on an NA MX5.
