For me (and most certainly not a barge) would have to be the Rover twin cam GTI.

Happy Friday.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202112130...

If decided to pool all of my resources in order to just have one car, and I decided to go "balls deep" as it were, into barge ownership, then one of these with the 4.7 and in Green would be the conveyance I would choose, I think.....Or a C126 560SEC.

In other news, I gather from previous posts there is a certain degree of whisky appreciation amongst the regulars in here. Well, Mrs Sternhammer has just sent me a text stating she has just treated me to a new bottle that will be delivered shortly, but she has omitted to tell me what she has ordered.....Exciting times.

Full report once said bottle has arrived and is opened, when the sun is over the yard arm.

Mildly inebriated eBay bidding may ensue....

Mini Friday barge. You don't see too many 19 year old cars at main dealers.

I have been tempted on a number of occasions by these. They are such a smart looking machine. I've always swerved at the last moment.

Excellently stupid Yank bumpers for boofing plebs out of the way:

Inside of the Boofer is a bit tired so we'll gloss over that...

As someone on this very thread unimprovably (?) once put it; the C216 looks like the box the C215 came in.

This one?

https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic-auctions/2...

I went to look at the lots in King's Lynn yesterday and that was one of the better cars. A majority of the ones that look good in photos aren't quite so good up close. Cracked lacquer and heavy chips don't show up although ACA have made strides in the last couple of years to take close up photos of obvious damage, they didn't used to... frown I probably wasn't the only one to complain about cars with badly damaged bumpers that they's previously avoided showing. Since the pandemic, many more buy remotely but I still wouldn't advise bidding blind! They at least drive the cars through on auction day (if they run!) unlike CCA / Silverstone, Historics, H+H etc who do it static and don't eventake their own photos/ videps, relying on the vendors ones, often old.

Lifting the rear hatch on the GTi twincam, there was some rust around the rear wiper loom blanking cap (the one on the right, presumable used on LHD cars). The headlining hadn't dropped like so many 90s cars seem to, but it left strange marks if you dragged your hand across it, maybe it has a nap like baize? scratchchin It's bid past £2k already pre-auction on The Saleroom.

Ian316. I think the 216 is every bit the car of the 215. I'd much rather one of those to a 215 500.

I appreciate it's at a dealer but seems very strong money for the 'baby' engine. Looks a lot tidier than mine though.

I thought it was Speckled Jim, but any number of people have dug the knife in over the years.

My cousin had a Mazda 929 coupe from late 80s, cannot remeber the exact year. What stuck with me that the fuel tank has rotted out so he used a petrol can instead. Clever.
