Landsail are not cheap tyres.
Which begs the question even more, why would you fit them?

Landsail and Triangle have always been my go-to st brands when referencing st tyre brands in general.

I was upset with my Jaguar as it had completely cleared me out on repairs. I bought a new set of alloys instead of having the old ones refurbished and didn't notice until I got home that the locking wheel nuts had been badly removed and fked all of the wheels.

With my wallet emptied, when it came to buying some new tyres I went cheap. I was planning on getting rid of the car soon anyway. How bad can they be? I read reviews of all the cheapies and settled for some 'tomket sport' tyres. 5 star reviews, from people who I can only assume only leave the house on a completely dry summers day and don't venture over 30mph.

Abysmal handling and dangerous in the wet.

My own fault.. but I won't buy dodgy no name tyres again.

Running some Yokohama all weathers on my shed at at the moment, quite a good deal on them at ATS and they've been excellent for the winter.

Usually means the auctioneer shilled it up to the reserve but nobody bid.

Probably be listed again later today or tomorrow if that was the case.

Threadist Judas and I have had experience of Chinese tyres. It wasn't good.
Yeah i’m not going to weigh in on a tyre debate as i’ll only get called rude names.
Cheap tyres are for cheap people.
Indeed. "wasn't good" is underselling the horror. Almost half a kilo of balancing weights needed. Tyre fitter was convinced the wheel was buckled at first.

The way I see it is that you can't judge how good these cheap tyres are by day to day driving. You'll only ever find out how good or bad they are when something goes wrong, and you're either swearing about that near miss as you carry on down the road, or find yourself upside down in a ditch (ok, slightly hyperbolic, but you get the idea). teacher
This is the nuance that resonates with me.

Tomket Sports are one of the better tested ditchfinders on Tyre Reviews too. Not owner reviews, you might as well ask the cat for his opinion, but proper objective tests.

The figures for how much longer stopping distances are on crap tyres, even from 50MPH, are very sobering. Of course the cheap tyre crowd on PH "drive to the conditions" so would never do 50MPH in the rain rolleyes

I have wondered if the absolute tsunami of motorway accidents this winter has been exacerbated by the big influx of truly dire ditchfinders and people feeling the financial squeeze and buying the cheapest their tyre man can supply. I've never known so many motorways closed so often for accidents.

Which is of absolutely no help when some asshat pulls out in front of you and you have to anchor up. Why is that so difficult to understand for some people?

This E500 of a similar age and mileage to mine was initially advertised at £3,750 and went to a no reserve auction, finishing at £2,060.

Just confirming that mine is worth the square root of fk all!

Thanks Tobinen

The market for approx 200k mile, 20 year old estate cars with a thirsty engine which, in reality, is no faster than a much more modern and economical diesel has a tiny market. I would like to add I would prefer to have a 200k mile, 20 year old estate car with a thirsty engine over a more modern diesel hehe

It's not much money is it but the Landsails, reference to rusty arches and the MOT history raise a few questions marks against the glowing description. It'll be interesting if anyone local takes a proper look at it.
My old Volvo runs on Landsails and they don't deserve any bad press. I've owned the car for about 16 years years and it only gets what it needs, apart from oil changes, and it's been far cheaper to run than the pampered M54 BMW that's on much fancier tyres. And the Landsails have always been absolutely fine. I only keep it running because it's absolutely worthless, but a more reliable car you couldn't wish to own - I get the tyre snobbery when buying, I do it myself - but don't rely on it!
It’s funny but a tyre advertising itself to ‘sail across land’ doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence hehe

The tred pattern looks a bit winter spec on those? I'm not sure I'd enjoy looking at that unless it was on a quattro or something.

Spotted in London, the only G60 in the UK. There are only two in Europe, the other is in Berlin.

(Not my G50 behind it).

Such an amazing car, a G60 is definitely on my lottery list.

I know this thread is weird, and obviously Fridays are weirder than usual, but even by our standards that's a bit niche.

Tread patterns are like watch straps, you wouldn't want mesh on each corner surely?

And don't get me started on the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta not being handed, so they looked so wrong on one side.

Tread patterns are a key influencer in selective tyre purchases! Even more so on motocycles!
