A bit scruffy, and they couldn't be arsed to wash it for the advert, but a six-cylinder petrol F10 which is nearly in-budget feels like an OK idea?

Even so it's a shame that's a replacement for the tactility of a convenient knob or button... Near silent and easily operated.
The paradox of progress.

Something vastly more complicated, often less reliable, distracting and inconvenient (if you have sleeping passengers).

The problem was solved when car radios were invented but it had to be re-solved when the faceless masses demanded screens in their quadricycle transportation units.

this is back up for sale, recall it was for sale a while ago and never sold..

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202202192...

vibration at around 30mph, other than that looks like a bit of a bargain? pictures are probably old too, from the time it was up for sale in the summer.

interior needs a good clean and I presume the vibration will be a control arm/bushes?

My car has voice control too, in Japanese.
Question is have you learned the relevant Japanese phrases to use it?

Morning all, and thanks for the kind responses to my music post.

Just as an aside, my work bandmate is a stabby redhead of 27, who not only has a voice like thunder and a fledgling career in broadcast journalism, but can also rebuild a bike engine by herself, and will happily sit with you and talk about carb adjustment, Haydn, or who the sexy ones in the audience are. laugh

Life's really not bad sometimes.

I thought I'd post this GS450h- decent miles, fsh, under thead max.

Doesn't seem to be much love for the GS, posted a similar one few pages back.

Control arms are relatively common on them, and I think they're fairly expensive, but I can't remember.

No. It needs to connect to things like my phone, GBook and VICS, which it can't outside of Japan. It can't pair with my phone to access contacts as it needs Japanese to do so.

I just play with the buttons and listen to ETC lady telling me that she can't access stuff.

I'm sure it's competent, but having driven one, the strange mismatch between the engine sound and revs means that it isn't really one for the motor enthusiast, in my view.

As some of you may know, I sold the thread LS460 recently and was on the hunt for a dog friendly car. My partner and I have decided to buy a joint car as we nearly always used her Mazda. This means fairly new for my Mrs to have warranty and hassle free ownership.

So over budget and devils fuel but I thought this might win some thread approval. It is lovely and smooth on the roads and has incredible seats (massage and all), gadgets and headlights. It has a different feel to the usual German suspect’s which is very appealing. Shame it isn’t quicker but it does encourage me to sit back and relax/enjoy my music.

It is a V90 Inscription Plus model:

Got the upgraded audio as well I see - great do it all car and that stereo absolutely makes it for me.

Might it be a suitable stepping stone for those transitioning from ice to electric but can't quite let go? What else did you think of it?
I couldn't live with one due to the boot being the size of a mouse's underpants.

Oh and btw apologies for not replying to the torque vectoring thing- I saw that others had done an admirable job of explaining it.
Seems like a great way to retain a spot of hooliganism whilst still owning a barge to me.

Same engine, year and model as mine, but a heck of a lot scruffier and with nearly twice the mileage. It's the last of the six-cylinder petrol before they went to four-cylinder turbos in the 528i and the 530i. The major issue with these (N53 engine) are the fuel injectors which are £200 a pop and you might well need to replace three at a minimum.

That said, it is a staggeringly competent car. It just eats up motorway miles and is also comfy around town. The engine is smooth, responsive and mates well with the 8-speed ZF gearbox. I will be at a loss when I need to replace it.

I wouldn't buy this particular one. For a few grand more, there must be examples that have not led such a hard life.

The Japanese ladies voice is one of the coolest features of your car IMO. Wondered if you had got a few key phrases from your son / daughter in law.....

It was like sitting on a fast sofa watching the road hurtling towards you through the windscreen. I was driving but definitely not engaged.

I didn't realise that anyone had responded to me! I didn't notice anything -- sometimes I notice posts on the desktop that don't seem to appear on my phone browser, does anyone else have this experience?

ps what is torque vectoring?

Another lurking gigging musician/IT nerd here. Currently not paying sure to a nerve compression issue, but worried all over with party and swing band for the last <insert large number> years

For years my first test of any car purchase has been "will my baritone sax case fit in the boot with the load cover over it"... which has surprised a few people.

Went to see a very nice E39 touring a few years back, found that the boot was a couple of inches too small in every direction and left again.

Saab 9-5, 9-3, Mitsubishi Legnum, BMW E61, Subaru Outback all ok. I've not had the chance to try an E class or A6 yet. I've run large barges estates to accommodate the gigs for years; if it turns out I can't play any more, my choice of cars suddenly gets a lot wider.

Similar to other posters, I've never owned a car as valuable as the instruments I carry in it on a weekly basis. No stabby redheads in our band either... we have to "make do" with a happily married shouty blonde instead smile

Makes it less easy to crash.
Or maybe you get to the crash much faster?

Copied and pasted from AutoExpress:
"A new four-wheel-drive system, called Super-Handling All Wheel Drive - SH-AWD - uses a hi-tech set-up to split the power between the front and rear wheels. However, the most impressive part of SH-AWD is that up to 100 per cent of the rear axle torque can be routed to just one wheel. That means the Legend offers near-perfect handling balance when cornering."

Which presumably means you could end up with three wheel drive!

That'll be the reason why I quite like the look of GS450s and have been looking at them recently biggrin

And on a side note, the Up! is having the laquer peel fixed on the bonnet so that's away for a few days and I was rocking around in the F-i-L's golf GTi earlier today until that broke (some random hose has split deep in the bowels of the engine) and the other half is working so has her car with her.

I'm now down to the motorhome, a motorbike or (god forbid) a bicycle if I want to go anywhere for the next few days.
