2002 CLK 500 83k £3.5k. 2002, so probably not galvanised but still: https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/ver...
I kept getting rust on the front arches even after Merc dealer said they sorted them... Then I got them done by reputable body shop, but rust popped up elsewhere until I sold it.Other owners I knew had zero problems, roll the dice.....

Owned 2 9-5 3.0v6t - both Griffin saloons. Smokey engine on startup probably turbo - and it's a mega expensive and rare item now.
They are a pain to source as the turbo is within the exhaust manifold. Circa £1600 iirc from the bill i had (got it reconditioned, couldn't find a replacement). Other engine parts also not easy to find- my saab specialist was sourcing Holden parts from australia at one point as GM used the same engine in cars over there.
The engine is smooth, bassy and nicely V6 vocal, but not in any way fast. 2.3 aero would leave it for dust.
So for me, no record of turbo replacement = walk away.
you can still get them... and new aswell...

The P2 interior architecture is (IMO) one of those weird ones that was kind of OK in a chunky and durable way when new, felt dated earlier than you'd normally expect an interior to, but now you look at it and it just looks like such a nice place to sit in. Everything there is either functional or comfortable and there's absolutely no pointless bling, you can operate all of it while wearing ski gloves and it doesn't take 10 minutes of reading the owner's manual to find out how to adjust the temperature. In other words, it's aged really well. And those seats still look as comfortable as I remember them.

Going to look at a £2k W124 260e tomorrow 15 minutes away. Seller seems honest. Will report!
Blimey! If it drives it's probably good value at the moment...That being said I don’t know too much about the 6 cylinders. I know they suffer from head gaskets.. anything to specifically look out for?

The s80 is looking fantastic. Great purchase. I think these are good looking cars (perhaps owning a Lexus LS helps with perspective!).
Thanks 0a. Eye of the beholder and all that but I’d certainly describe it as ‘handsome’.Timberwolf said:

Agree with all that. It reminds me of how well German marques used to do it; everything functional and clearly laid out. Absolutely no excess. In other words, it's aged really well. And those seats still look as comfortable as I remember them.
The seats really are fantastic and covered in proper, thick leather which on this example look barely worn after 19 years.

My new (to me) barge. It’s a manual not auto, but it ticks a lot of other boxes.
Turbo petrol 2.3 red-block engine, cloth interior, and it’s clean too!
Fantastic they really are great bits of kit..!!Turbo petrol 2.3 red-block engine, cloth interior, and it’s clean too!
I'll take the opportunity to post the latest after new exhaust fitted and a slight suspension drop.
Over thread, small, we’ve seen it before, big tax not that quick, but I still really like these S60 3.0’s as we’re quite rightly having a Volvo love in today.

Great work on that, a very practical classic! My parents and grandparents all had Volvos when I was growing up- 740’s and 940’s…they make me nostalgic in a similar way to how older folks feel about Cortina’s.
Indeed a generation earlier, my Dad had both (Volvos and Cortinas) in his time - estates all.Cortinas handed down from Gramp, a Mk1 auto then an early Mk2 so 1500. Then 144 & 244.
Nostalgic yes but I have no desire to own any!

The Polestar 3.0 or 2.0 is on my 'list', really really like them https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202202252...
