Collection of British barges. Hopefully doesn't give the wrong impression to my neighbours. I don't only buy British on purpose, honest...
A very splendid line up of barges 1-5 large. Well done!
The Jag looks very good, here’s hoping your “the man” is right and the specialist wrong.

That E34 looks nice, shame that AmAtEuR PhOtOgRaPhEr has done some weird focus stuff because arty.
I think that's the opposite - it's a fake bokeh added by a smartphone.

If anyone wants a very good example of a Rover 75 CC has what appears to be a very nice low miles top spec version in a fabulous colour combination.

https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2001-rover-75-...

I am going to come right out and say it, despite the real risk of derision, I think that looks great. The colour/engine/interior/spec combination is just about perfect for a Rover 75. The only way it could be bettered, for me, is if it was the Touring model. I have personally owned 3 variants of this car, A manual club estate, a Connoisseur Saloon and an MG ZT.

Agreed the interior is a bit old hat and fashioned from some slightly questionable materials in places. However, after a long day at work or at the start of a particularly arduous journey, the Connoisseur in particular was an extremely comfortable, cosseting and pleasant place to sit whilst the miles slipped by.

In all honesty, and at the risk of further mockery and accusations of Longboat fondling, If it wasn't for the fact that some key parts are now starting become unobtanium and iron oxide is starting to become a problem, I would quite happily have another. Especially in this format.

I shall now proceed to don my thick skin and tin hat in expectation of the barrage of general mickey taking that will inevitably now be heading my way.
Nothing to mock there, that is a remarkably lovely car. I've had mine over a decade and for the most part it's been a joy to own (as long as you belong to an owner's club for technical support). Mine is almost the exact same specification and colour too, and I bought it at a similar mileage (though at half the current cost!). It's the only car I've ever driven that I could happily sit in all day. When the engine blew up recently on 100,000 miles, faced with the choice between getting a new engine or a new car, I did the only right thing.

So pleased mine's lived on to see another day. But the unobtainium bit is becoming a worry, I've had to replace worn parts with other almost as worn parts that have gone on to fail shortly after, leading me to have to source yet more worn parts....

Scrump who has been very quiet indeed since the most recent bout of 'cancellations' for pre-watershed content.

Assuming Michael really isn’t trying to lure us into a pre-Friday trap, I’m going to attempt a serious answer in that it’s a reference to the Viking longboat, or more accurately ’longship’, as depicted in the Rover badge?

If that really is the answer, it's nothing like as exciting as I was hoping for.

I’m going to take credit for the term “Longship fondling” as a term for perverts who like Rovers. Like me.

It’ll be in the PH records I’m sure.

Great 290 mile run out to RAF Cosford today for a Jaguar meet

Was very supprised to get 'best post 2000' award!

Now sporting my drainpipe exhaust laugh

Looks fantastic and the award was well deserved. Such tasteful mods as always Alec.

You must be tempted to deal with this chrome around the lights though. To what I don't know. The only bad bit on the car to my eyes! An X-type aftermarket look.

I love the plate.

Well done Alec. I too squint at various parts and wonder, but the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Stay classy.
Thanks both

The chrome surrounds are factory and are not going anywhere
The aftermarket ones are much thicker and don’t look right.

Non sport X350s got chrome surrounds, sport ones were black.

On the X358 they strangely made them red. However for the Daimler they gave it all the optional brightwork.
I think the X358 and X400 facelifts did away with a lot of the chrome - my X-Type only had a few bits compared to the early ones which were dripping in it.

I love your car, Alec. It's fabulous, and I'd have an X350/X358 Daimler in a hearbeat.

My current S-Type has no chrome at all, which I didn't realise until I'd got it home and washed it.

This LS400 looks pretty decent for the money given the current climate: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202205165...
