Is Ian banned? I've not seen anything contentious
Doesn't take much for grumpy scrump to wield the ban hammer these days smash
Bang, bang, Scrumpy's banning hammer, came down upon his head

Clang, clang, Scrumpy's banning hammer made sure, he was dead.
I'm disappointed to see this sort of behaviour. Scrump is a fantastic member of our community, and we should all be grateful for him and his dedication to PH.

If a post on PistonHeads breaches our rules of posting, it will be removed by any one of our 30 moderators.

You shouldn't need reminding of rule 23 in our rules of posting: Abuse towards our moderators will not be tolerated and will result in your account being suspended or banned.

So it should really be no surprise if this sort of behaviour does result in action being taken against you.
Hi Ben,

I really don't see any abuse in these posts - the posters are making light of the situation, not having a dig at Scrump.

There is so much st posted elsewhere on pistonheads that I find it stunning that some members joking about Ian being banned again really produces the threat of suspension or banning. It makes me think of the Russian government.

I am gutted to be sat here wondering if I dare post these thoughts, as I am worried they may get me banned due to me questioning your policies in a humorous manner. It feels like "thou shalt not criticise the management".

For the record - I do not feel we should be grateful for Scrump doing his job - I assume he chooses to do it, though as these threats sounds like the North Koreans being told they should love their glorious leader, maybe he is being held in a bunker somewhere doing this under duress. wink
Well said Emeye, I agree with all of that. This rather belated diktat was of itself completely unnecessary and the hypocrisy or ignorance in relation to the bile that is allowed to be posted elsewhere on PH rather undermines the strict moderation that this thread seems to be subject to.

I fully agree that genuinely graphic content should be policed, plenty of dedicated places to get that (or so CdG tells me). I do wonder about all this ‘safe for work’ stuff though and why there seem to be so many reading PH during working hours - perhaps I’m just envious.

Anyway, maybe because this thread is so popular it is being singled-out? I’ve personally lost track of exactly how many years I’ve been following/contributing but it must remain one of the longest running, most active threads on the forum. That is in no small part to the diverse contributors as much as the regulars, the ebb and flow of conversation, humour and occasional barge discussions.

Honestly at a loss with the heavy-handed tactics and implying abuse takes place here. I’ll just close the door on my way out.

This is a lovely looking mini barge. Doom blue and v6 (just for stickleb). Bet it would outlast the cockroach if serviced right.

Hello all.

After a self-enforced leave of Thread absence I thought I would drop by and say hello.

Got fedup with the banning which took all the fun out of it for me.
Coupled that with suddenly being told I can't speak about anything to do with "news" because I haven't the time to post into quadruple figures made me think "sod it, I have better things to do with my time." Sour taste.

Also have been busy with all sorts.

Great to see this most wonderful thread is continuing apace with great cars, chat and wit. This thread is probably one of the nicest places on the entire internet. Very good-natured in a way that is truly rare. I salute you all.

Attempts to neuter its appeal are misguided and frankly heavy-handed. The recent message from management further up the page continues in that vein. Touchy and out of touch. We're supposed to shut up, not criticise and be grateful.

In barge news, the E500 soldiers on. Sent to an unusual location yesterday.

For the record, I don't recommend loading and unloading an entire band's not-insignificant stage setup onto 120-year-old vessels with wet decking.
Particularly when the "stage" is on the lower deck and has a curvature that would make Kim Kardashian envious.

Resting during the show all unwashed, but not unloved:

One hundred pictures of a twenty-year-old Camry? That's dedication.

Got to support the asking price, I suppose.

Apart from the odd bit of Friday smut, I seem to keep missing the stuff that's getting folks banned. What on earth have they been posting?

Pretty sure I’ve read every page of the thread since around volume 5 (I really do have no life) and unless my radar is all out of kilter with modern life I’ve yet to detect anything that constitutes abuse.

God help the PH string pullers if they ever came to work at our place biggrin

Nice spec on this, although a slightly odd combination of colours.

This is what I don't understand. I read every page and I haven't seen anything remotely controversial. Unless it happened in a different thread?

In happier news, for me anyway, I return to full-time employment next month with the same company that laid me off on better pay but not as generous a pension. No weekend working too.

It’s a front-driver so stickleback should be able to cope (and Lotus have been doing just fine using Toyota V6s). But really, if it absolutely has to be a V6 then it should be 120deg á la Ferrari 296, 60deg is a further compromise.

Which reminds me, I remember taking an E38 735i (V8) for a test drive some years back, and my recollection was that there were more engine vibrations through the chassis and the pedals, but the power delivery itself was smoother than my 528i (I6), possibly because of the extra torque, maybe the extra power pulses per revolution, I’m not sure.

I agree with what you say in paragraph 1.
And congratulations on the return to employment, every little helps!

Ad states no modifications but that looks like a Champagne seats and door cards mod. Although the “wood” is the standard vavona. Where did you see the option list? Can’t find it.

I'm astonished Macron didn't get in first with that. If he ends up a moderator then that's another bunch of us (diseaselers) doomed.

This is exactly the same colour combo as mine and for the same purchase price! Think about the adventures you can have -- it even has the powered tailgate, which (I think) means the convenience of the easi-fix kit, too.

It's lightgelb like my old 530i and the spec appears to be original even down to the M paras. VINwiki now allows you to search by UK reg to get VINs which is useful for tragics like us.

I’m guessing it may be a parallel import. The market was around its peak at this time and specs were particular to the country it was sold in. RHD was merely ticked as an option.
