This is what I don't understand. I read every page and I haven't seen anything remotely controversial. Unless it happened in a different thread?

In happier news, for me anyway, I return to full-time employment next month with the same company that laid me off on better pay but not as generous a pension. No weekend working too.
I agree with what you say in paragraph 1.
And congratulations on the return to employment, every little helps!
Nice one tobinen, that's great news.

This is exactly the same colour combo as mine and for the same purchase price! Think about the adventures you can have -- it even has the powered tailgate, which (I think) means the convenience of the easi-fix kit, too.
That looks a decent buy with faults declared- should be fairly easy fixes.

Are they really euro 3 though? I thought they were euro 4. I am looking around for a Bristol ULEZ compliant barge at the moment and this wouldn’t qualify

My first thought when reading the comments from Ben, was that perhaps Ian was "abusive" to a moderator in a discussion we can't see - ie: in the sin bin? I've not seen anything on this thread that resembles bullying or abuse, but, equally, I can't see what may have been deleted or said in private.

It's a shame, as this thread is the best part of PH and it feels entirely different to the rest of the site, in a good way.

I’m guessing it may be a parallel import. The market was around its peak at this time and specs were particular to the country it was sold in. RHD was merely ticked as an option.
That car did come in the period when motoring programmes and publications were chock full of stories showing how you could save loads of money by ordering your car on the more excitable side of the English channel.

Although, Johnny Cash advocated acquiring the car directly from the factory for maximum cost savings (provided you are flexible about delivery time).

What's a rear strut fitted nowadays? £800-ish? ABS light could be a simple sensor or reluctor ring. Recent MoT history is OK

My 2004 is Euro 4. ULEZ compliant and everything.

Mine (yours!) is definitely Euro 4. I am sure in the build sheet it mentions something about Euro 4 pollution control equipment.

This one though- it is a little older. Maybe it is Euro 3. A shame if so.

Welcome back XM, nice post. Presumably the gig was on the ship?

Ahoy there- yes, on board. Stage was the ship floor, which was badly bowed.
Think I was leaning about 20 degrees right all night.

Quickly trying to catch up, so two things; have fun on the road trips and bring back Ian!
Actually, several other things; welcome back XM and nice one on your work news, tobinen.

Lastly, this post seemed to go unnoticed in the last few days of kerfuffle. I bet this thing is a riot and kicks some serious bahookie.

On the v6/i6 debate. I have a v6 in the toy car. From a jag s type. It was better that the s type was sacrificed for a better cause. Its very smooth, very light (same weight as an I4 zetec or mx5 engine) and makes over 250bhp bone stock on an aftermarket ecu. It also makes a fantastic noise over 4000rpms.

Another day another border. And a vignette and expensive petrol. Just paid €2.06 a litre but it's €2.45 on the autobahn.

The view over coffee from Chiemgau Rastatten.

For anyone looking for transit accommodation near Munich, I highly recommend this place.

Slovenian vignette? Don't stick it on the screen as instructed, it proved to be one of the most difficult things to remove from a screen ever. It needed a fresh Stanley knife blade, much scraping and WD40. It sort of etched itself into the glass.

(I’m a little confused as I wasn’t aware r129sl had an E500 211)

They’re about £400 for a Bilstein, similar from MB for the same thing if you return the old one. It’s best to do both if both are original given the subframe needs dropping.

After wrangling and ignoring in equal measure got my 500 new suspension and through an MOT, it too has the ABS light on thanks to both rear wheels so I’ll be delving into sensors and rings when I can summon up the enthusiasm.

Some shrewd barge investments required to top up the pension.

I'd second that advice. Do both as if one is failing, the other one may well be right behind it, False economy not to.
