I know these are sort of well thought of in niche circles, but they should be legendary.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384959599253?mkcid=16&a...

Refreshing admission in ad that it's fecked, but what sort of dosh is an E39 abs module (I'm assuming prohibitive hence the bail out?)
the rest of it looks quite nice

New ones appear to be loads, but used and refurbished ones seem to be in the £100-300 sort of range. the rest of it looks quite nice

Unless there’s more to the issue. Of course it’s possible that the cars been troublesome and the seller has had enough. I’ve done it myself with an otherwise immaculate 330ci, one problem too many and away it went, after I’d fixed everything else!

So you'd need to get another old one, and have it coded to the car by someone with a big PC of tricks... and then hope the replacement doesn't do the same...
Price feels a bit toppy for something that may not get past the next MOT without a dose of luck, but prices are what they are at the mo.
Worth reading this thread on Bimmerfest. My posts start page 8, #152.

Beware dodgy cheese.
I dreamed that the Montego had been reintroduced and there was also a rather lovely red 2dr convertible Montego in the showroom.
I was so taken with it that I might have to make one.
Looking forward to the forecourt (and pump) shots!!I dreamed that the Montego had been reintroduced and there was also a rather lovely red 2dr convertible Montego in the showroom.

(any particular cheese to "avoid"?)

I also envisaged a svelte 2 door (and to my mind it would have 80s Maserati overtones) but it seems someone else had a different arrangement in mind:I dreamed that the Montego had been reintroduced and there was also a rather lovely red 2dr convertible Montego in the showroom.

I'm sure many of you already watch these; the quite interesting Camargue
Really enjoy these IT videos - he has a lovely presenting style and what a wealth of knowledge in a very old school way of proper ‘mechanic’.Stegel said:

Over the weekend, as I was meandering around Derbyshire on my Triumph, I happened on a nice little car show at Carsington Reservoir. There was some rather lovely metal on show but one car got me thinking.
The car in question was this literally, mint old Granada in absolute poverty spec 2.3L trim on some rather delicious steel wheels.
This is a largish, comfortable automatic saloon with more than four cylinders. Is it still classed as a barge despite the complete absence of the basic luxuries such as electric windows etc?
Incidentally, There is a car show at Markeaton Park in Derby on July 3rd if anyone is in the area and at a loose end. I wonder if a certain Japanese V12 that frequents these parts will be in attendance?

I'm inclined to think that if it feels like a barge to drive, then it is a barge. I see it has an auto box, which helps its case and is something that you'd notice most of the time when driving it, whereas electric windows are probably in the 1% of the time category. The car in question was this literally, mint old Granada in absolute poverty spec 2.3L trim on some rather delicious steel wheels.
