There was a joke comment about a postman a couple of pages back. Well, my barber has just bought one of those new 240i coupes. Seriously!
My barber bought a brand new RS5 about 3-4 years ago. He was 26 at the time. Owns his own place. The Turkish one is good, they burn off your ear hair too

My guy has one of those fake G classes, based on a Suzuki Jimny, fully murdered out, Brabus kit. Quite convincing from a distance. He reckons its worth £60k plus. Not my bag for whats a pretty weedy car underneath, but it takes all sorts...
Never knew that was even a thing??Fast Bug said:
What about used cars? Sorry if it's a stupid question. ChrisH72 said:
I read yesterday that Porsche is planning to hike prices of their EV's by 10 to 15% this year. With how things are looking that would seem a very brave move.
Yep as previously posted it looks like further large price increases will now affect both Porsche ICE and EV cars from the middle of this year with the aim of sustaining and increasing 2022 profits as despite headwinds Porsche are so confident of their strong branding and customer base.Looks like there will be a two tier pricing structure as new EVs become increasingly more expensive.

Well, that would be an interesting choice when the rest of the market is dropping their sales prices for BEVs and/or offering larger deposit contributions (I saw £k from Mercedes, Tesla have been clear with their prices drops and hopefully Ford will drop their UK Mache-E prices the way they dropped their US price). What's the thoughts on USED electric car values dropping any time soon. Seems no real change in 2021 used cars with the new number plate issuance that just occurred. Still 54 weeks to get a new car built. No price drops on even 2021 cars any time soon?
I'm looking to buy a 2021 used electric car but struggling to find one £5k lower for price I need so I can buy outright.
The dealer also said "Having just realigned the price of this vehicle to sit competitively within the Skoda Approved Network, unfortunately there's not a lot more I can do than let you know if anything similar to your requirement materialises..."
In anyones experience does the above reply mean no hope of any price reduction?

I have started to see drops on Teslas, Enyaqs, and Ioniq 5s.EV^s slower to drop, but have longer lead times new. It's starting to shift, with Teslas being accelerated by their new pricing choices.I'm looking to buy a 2021 used electric car but struggling to find one £5k lower for price I need so I can buy outright.

Will be interesting to see how that works out with the likely pension changes coming tomorrow. Higher earners salary sacrificing to reduce tax and using man maths to buy an expensive electric toy may have alternate finance options.
It might not be just man maths. If you suddenly save 40% tax on money that you couldn't put away because you were close to the LTA then suddenly you know you will soon have increased your disposable income if you're close to 55. Might not benefit that many people though.Fast Bug said:
Is that JLR getting ready to ditch Jaguar all together and either sell it on or just shut it down.Is it me or is every manufacturer deciding the future is raising their prices, increasing their margins and lowering their volume?
Now for some that'll work and be great but anyone who does that better be very, very sure their products are actually good enough to command these prices because cheaper alternatives will arrive under them and they could be left in no mans land.
Just because it worked during post COVID parts shortages doesn't mean it'll work forever.

Some will get away with it, but I can't see how manufacturers like Ford will by trying to Sell Kuga's and the like for £45k+, not with Chinese EVs on the horizon tooNow for some that'll work and be great but anyone who does that better be very, very sure their products are actually good enough to command these prices because cheaper alternatives will arrive under them and they could be left in no mans land.

It sounds to me like you don’t have the budget so it’s unlikely you will find a car. I'm looking to buy a 2021 used electric car but struggling to find one £5k lower for price I need so I can buy outright.

I am not sure where you are looking but EV’s have done about 20% of their values compared to 6 months ago. Over the past month there have been some massive losses within the trade but some trade buyers are now buying again and prices are actually starting to stabilise as dealers are moving the cars they have recently purchased. The one’s suffering are the dealers with cars they purchased 90-120 days ago as they are being undercut and having to sell at massive losses.

not withstanding the massive profits they've been making recently.
