Some solid and irrefutable evidence there guys, I like it.
So what he’s saying and your agreeing with is because you can’t afford a house today then spunking your money in new shinnnnneeee stuff because “live your best life innit”.
Iam not saying that not having the latest phone ,IPad , Instagram holidays, white Sline amg Msport box ,Netflix, SKY etc will get you a house but having them will definitely make it harder imo.

And what were you doing at 14-16 that mean you earned £2,500 quid a year? Given that you're legally limited to the working hours you can do in terms time and holidays, and aren't entitled to the minimum wage, I'd love to know.
I earned more than that doing paper rounds at 13. I did 3 morning, 3 evening, 4 sunday rounds and had £10 for each plus any tips

While you were wa***ng over porn magazines in Tescos at 14, I was already working part time and saving. At 16 I had £5,000 in my bank account. I bet you're mind blown that someone at 16 could have saved £5,000.

This is the worst of PH in a sentence... Some people just can't talk about things, particularly money, without descending into personal insults.

The fact remains that someone doing that a generation ago would be far better off than someone doing it now because houses have gone up more than anything else and that doesn't change whether you're in Tesco to touch yourself or stack shelves.

Ah well, off to find a more light hearted thread I go!

Interesting. So you were earning £15-30 an hour doing paper rounds?

Let me tell you what my friend did who started like me, from the bottom. Work hard. Don't spend monies on silly things. After 5 years of working hard he was able to buy a house for £80k with a BTL mortgage in an ok area. 5 years later he turned 25 and was able to sell his house and buy something better, do it up and sell it. He then managed to buy two houses, do them up, sell it. He is now 33 and owns 6 properties that he lets in the Midlands. He bought his used C63s with cash.
The imaginary friend that started work at 15, was able to qualify for a BTL mortgage at 20, and then in flipping one house, could suddenly afford 2 houses and the cost to renovate and buy more.

What's the "side hustle"?
Narrow minded people like you are the ones who are shouting that the majority can't jump on the property ladder and want everything on their plates.

I won't go into detail for you as to how my imaginary friend or me started our journey, but rest assured it was legal. While you were wa***ng over porn magazines in Tescos at 14, I was already working part time and saving. At 16 I had £5,000 in my bank account. I bet you're mind blown that someone at 16 could have saved £5,000.

I wish everyone had an imaginary friend like this, to help steer them in the right direction and give them sound advise.

Have a good day in your 'hard to live' world.

Just so that you may sleep well tonight, in parallel to working part time, I used to wake up at 4am on weekends with my dad to pack the car and head to the local car boot to sell items. I sold second hand consoles, games and what not. I also bought consoles on weekend markets to sell these to Game Station and used to make very good margins at my age. Then I moved to selling bycicles such as Specialized and laptops on eBay which I bought from ex-display or police repossession auctions - these are physical auctions, one of these is called John Pye Auctions in Nottingham. That's how I made my small fortune. Just working hard and wanting to get away from being poor and not being able to afford to buy new clothes and people laughing at me at school b3cause I didn't wear Nike TNs but wore New Balance trainers.

During my legal studies, I setup a motor trading business. I bought my cars directly from BCA and made anywhere around £1000-£2000 permonth. By the time I commenced working at a high street law firm, I already had enough to pay a deposit on a BTL. I rented a room in London and let the house in the Midlands. Slowly but gradually moving up with this type of mindset.

Anything else you wish to know about my personal life?

Ah so bank of dad got you started with stock and cash. Cheers, thanks for that.

It's always funny when you read this rags-to-riches stories where they neglect to mention the start...

Where did he say that?

I read it as he got a lift with his dad who was perhaps otherwise going there.

I can relate to it, to be honest - I sold home computers, games consoles, games, watches, calculators, etc when i was at school from aged 14. It was a very low startup cost enterprise. Sometimes i'd simply be buying off one person and selling to the next the same day, so paid for it when i got it sold later that day..

Moved on to cars when i was out of school.

I bought my first car for resale for £90 and resold it for £325 from memory.

You said - "ah so bank of dad got you started with stock and cash"

Wheres your evidence of that?

Did / has your dad not provided you with his time and given you a lift somewhere on occasions?

If you're incapable of reading the same post as I did then crack on.

I've not pretended on a public forum that I've achieved everything in life through "hard work" and therefore so should everyone else be capable of it. I recognise I've had some help and privilege in life, and acknowledge it without using it as a reason to put-down other people.

Heres the post then - Highlight the exact words your seeing in his post relating to funding from "bank of dad" for stock and cash

I was paid cash per round. Pretty sure nobody gave a flying fig how long it took me as long as I had them all done by 7.45.

I managed to buy an Escort Cosworth at 19 so it worked out ok...

The funnier part is how people dont want to believe the rags to riches as they never got off their arses to do it, just spent a life complaining how ‘unfair’ life is hehe

Same as you, worked my arse off while others whimpered, saved hard for my my first bike TZR125 and bought it outright, never stopped working my butt off until i got the next thing i wanted, discipline is a great master, now have a lovely collection sat outside my dream house (that i built)

Some will never get it (or want to) as it means they’d have to work that harder then everyone else round them, which isnt going to happen.

It was more a question of how long each round was taking you. In my experience each round was about 45 minutes but perhaps different in more densely populated areas.

Why do you care that much that you're scrutinising and trying to find fault to ridicule people for following what have always been well trodden routes to get some cash in during their teens?

If you must know, my alarm clock was always 6.05, it allowed me to be in the shop for 6.20 when the rounds were put out and i was always at home having my breakfast by 7.15. I was smart and got all the streets between my houose and the shop, and, because i was reliable and trustworthy I always got my pick of the spare rounds when people were on holiday or ill. Happy days. Christmas was particularly nice, I got £398 in tips one year. Straight into my National Savings account at 14.75% interest too.
