We're considering a sharan and an alhambra, the alhambra is a 2016 so.a facelifted one, 83k on it, se trim with booster seats. The sharan is a 2014 , s trim with 99k on it. The difference in price is 4k. Is the alhambra worth this much extra do you think? Both 2 owners, but the sharan is located closer to us and dealer is offering a 6 month warranty. Alhambra dealer is only offering 3 months warranty and is about an hour away from us.

I think this will partly depend on how long you plan on keeping them and how many miles you plan on doing in that period.

I’d be tempted by the Alhambra as it’s a newer face lifted car with (I’m guessing) a better spec but £4000 is quite a gap..

Is the service history on them comparable?

We're probably hoping to keep it for a good few years. Both cars have fsh. My other half does like the extra spec, cruise control etc, but I could do without. 4k is a lot.

I'd disregard the warranty length difference; dealer warranties on secondhand cars are, as a rule, worth less than your statutory rights under the CRA (any faults arising within the first six months are presumed to have been present at the point of sale unless the dealer can prove otherwise).

I suspect that if you go and view both cars and chat to the respective dealers, you'll know the answer. However if it were me I'd probably go see the younger Seat first, on the grounds that it's more likely to be a better car.

I'd look at the Sharan first because it's nearer! And it's cheaper.

Condition and history are more important to me than mileage - especially when there is only 16K difference anyway!

The £4k price difference is probably because the 2016 Alhambra is ULEZ compliant, whereas the 2014 Sharan won't be.

Even if you don't ever drive into a ULEZ, you will have to consider the effect of this on the cars future value should you want to sell it or px it in the future.
