EVs... no one wants them!

Well, there you go .... Your post is unintelligible gobbledygook.
Some people live in a different world to those if us who actually have to pay real money for our cars.
Wow. You don't understand it, so it must be gobbledygook? The vast majority of "real people" finance their cars and surely any proper red-blooded V8-driving petrol-sniffing enthusiast should understand that? Some people live in a different world to those if us who actually have to pay real money for our cars.
Perhaps ask what he means next time rather than resorting to insults...

How is that not ‘real money’?
It's snobbery usually coming from people who would only buy cars with cash. The same people who have no concept that the depreciation of that cash purchase over the same timeframe is usually around the same as the cost to lease. All a lease does from a financial point of view is fix that cost at the outset and remove the risk of it changing over time.

The p11d on a Vauxhall is over £40k? Wtaf
21% would usually be good but the p11d value is clearly ludicrous..
I expect within 12 months they'll be available for £30k on discounts.21% would usually be good but the p11d value is clearly ludicrous..

But why is this a problem now? Not everyone needs to own an EV now. In fact not everyone needs to own an EV in 2035 either. The 56% of people who can charge at home should be fine now, and we've got plenty of time to figure out which of the many solutions for public charging can be scaled to meet demand over the next 11 years.
Because the Government couldn't organise this if they wanted to. 11 years and there's been tiny steps since the 2030 date was set. Just think back to 2013. Were there any chargers for the handful of EV’s around ?

In reality these are fringe benefits.
Don’t get me wrong, great as a second car when you have something else for long trips. But no replacement for a decent range when you want to head off on holiday.
As for the drive, I think this is massively overstated by people who love the EV power delivery. Most people don’t care.
A 300+ mile day is quite easily done in a 64kWh car. I'm not sure how many people want to drive 5+ hours for holiday, and young families aren't so keen.Don’t get me wrong, great as a second car when you have something else for long trips. Tried stopping half way and staying in a hotel in the past. It certainly makes the journey feel more relaxed, but adds nothing to the experience. You stop at a hotel, have dinner, sleep and then head off after breakfast’. Much better to do it in one hit IMO.
The other factor in all of this is cruising speed. Once in Europe the speed limit is generally 130 kph and I’ve never been stopped if under 145kph.
EV range seems to dip off massively after 110kph, and that’s before considering the massive drag from the bikes and roof box we have strapped to the car for a 2 week family holiday.

Does anyone know if the Peugeot e-208 is any good? Keep seeing them about and thinking "That's a fairly attractive looking normal size hatchback that would fit into my life well as a run-around". If we could have more EVs which were that size and appearance, I think the take up amongst the masses would increase, especially as the range issues improve with each generation. Spoken by someone who isn't particularly pro or anti EV, but who doesn't like large SUV type vehicles and is wary about jumping too soon, due to the pace of technological change.
I see that someone has put a quid in Evo Harry M on twitter again. He's ranting on about a 2.8 tonne family EV, while he presumably sees no problem in owning a 2.4 tonne family Range Rover. He's getting very clickbaity these days.

Just to confirm, it is a PCP rather than an outright sale. You still have the balloon payment at the end right?Dave200 said:

Go figure?

Is this a 5,000 mile pa contract. Fine if you live in London, but I thought the whole point of having a car was to travel and not just look good in one! Although that said I guess in London the savings from having cheaper parking, congestion charge savings etc could probably also make up a chunk of savings.

The same person who was singing the praises of the 2.7 tonne Defender 130 as well? https://twitter.com/rivergecko/status/177994792062...
