thinking about getting an ipace from the jaguar sales event. Had one before on lease so I know i like them.

On PCP its looking like a lot of car for the money in this market. I had JLR approved warranty before and they are pretty solid which is a must for such a car in my opinion.

32k 2018 car looks like 3k down +3k contribution for 10k per year.
412 per month
That includes 24 month warranty and free charger.

thoughts?

The used JLR warranty does not cover the same stuff as the new warranty

e.g. water ingress - so if you get one of the (many) known issues of a leaking screen you won't be covered

Id not touch any jaguar now

Or anything from the JLR stable... just too much of a gamble and too expensive, with a warranty that sadly isnt worth the paper its written on.

Jlr aftersales service and support does seem to have taken a nosedive over the last year or two.
I've never tried their newer products due to the experiences of some some friends who had various issues but always the same " nothing we can do" attitude from the dealers.

One mate with an Evoque stuck in limp mode was at a dealers for over 3 weeks until they sussed out it was the brake light switch which was stuck, so brake lights always on. 3 weeks to spot permanent brake lights?

Some may say they are a bit dim at JLR smile

Surely the first thing they would do is to run a diagnostic test and that should have flagged was the BLS being stuck on?
Even if it didn't to take 3 weeks reeks of the car just being left and not checked rather than lack of brains

I recently bought a 2018 'S' mainly that particular one, as it has air suspension/dynamic rode, and the panoramic roof. I used the sale of my last car as a deposit.

It's on a PCP deal too, the free chargers getting fitted on the 12th of April. Unfortunately with the S, I didn't get a deposit contribution, but it was a 32k car, mine works out to about 390 per month.

I've not had it long, but fingers crossed it behaves its self! Luckily there doesn't seem to be any water ingress. I'll keep an eye on the 12V batteries as well.

It's certainly the one of the best cars I've owned, and apart from the Taycan/E tron GT, the only EV I was interested in.

I had landrover warranty on my Disco 4.The dealership in glasgow south was excellent actually. Some things I didnt think would be covered were in fact covered.

The jaguar one close by seemed ok when I had ipace on lease but less experience on that.

Audi garage was terrible ... Heard very bad things about porsche and BMW as well. I think locality makes a big difference as franchise is probably the biggest factor.

Surely the first thing they do is not link the brake light to the engine. But any excuse to give the owner a hard time...

The initial diagnosis was a gearbox fault and my friend tells me it was quite by chance that one of the techs working on a different car noticed the brake lights on when i think it was left idling in neutral and drew attention to it.
My opinion is surely , plugging it in for a diagnosis would have had them on track pretty quickly but for whatever reason this didn't happen. Even a basic generic OBD would or should have picked that up so why they were chasing gearbox issues I don't know.
Anyway these things happen and its not the only issue that's been a bit ,meh, to make me question the JLR aftersales. Maybe it's just the local dealers to me but reading some posts on PH makes me think not.
That blue jag above does look lovely mind, nice colour

Well a year in and my iPace has been faultless (kiss of death...). Plus it is a great drive, is beautifully built by Magna Steyr and looks good - at least to my eyes.
Meanwhile my brother's Taycan which has been a nightmare.

Personally I don't think I'll be able to have an electric car in my lifetime, reason being no parking anywhere near the house (terraced on a walkway with nearest parking about 100m away). I do like to read about them and hear about how people are getting on with them, I did come across some videos on Youtube by a guy called The MacMaster who seems to mainly review junk food, he must be doing OK though as he leased a new Taycan and he seems to dislike the concept of the electric car and is going back to petrol 911 as soon as he can. His first service cost something like £1500 which was £750 for the "service" and £750 for two rear tyres (this was at Porsche Leeds), anyway they are worth a watch.

Not sure what he has to complain about?

£750 for a service at a dealer that probably charges £150 per hour labour seems about right and the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV's on my EQC are £375 each fitted.

To be fair, that sort of loss will be familiar to many top end ICE BMW, Mercedes / AMG / Aston etc buyers. Eye watering.

Makes me wonder how much they'd set you back on 23's that seem to be creeping onto stuff like FFRR's.

11 quid a mile in depreciation alone.

Some people really do have too much money.

£135k is RS money, with used stock at £90k plus £75k seems pretty low ball.
