The E Class is the better car, I'd not look at the 330d as the only place it wins is by being a better steer.

This is my personal opinion but the E is the nicer place to be & overall the pick, if you go for a 2010 you'll get the 265 model.

These 350 cdi 265s: 6.7 to 60, 155mph and 457Ibs/ft

That’s not slow by any standard.

The blue in blueefficiency, that’s not that addBlue (looks like parafin or screenwash) carry-on is it?

There's quite a big size difference in these two cars. If load lugging is important then it would have to be the E-class out of those two, otherwise you need to step up to the E61 5-series.if you want the M57 engine in a beemer. If you do want a 3 series then be aware that with the facelift 3-series the engine changed from the (largely bombproof) M57 to the later N57 which is faster and more economical but less bombproof. The facelift cars have "Klingon" bonnet with creases if you are unsure how to check.

There is a model change in the E-class that spans your age range. You can't get a 2007 E350d - that would be an E320d from the previous e-class. To get an E350d you will have to go right to the end of your range of years. Unless you mean you want a petrol E350 of course?

I've had both E class and 4 series with those engines. The 3 will be sharper and slightly more agile, but that doesn't necessarily make it better to drive because the E class rides better and is more compliant.
The BMW engine is great, but the 350d V6 is very smooth and refined. Both good cars, E350d the better option.

In a word yes but like any car if they've not been serviced on time it can lead to issues.

Both are good but the Mercedes edges it.

Watch out for rusty subframes on the Mercedes although it will most likely be replaced FOC by Mercedes.
