Shadow edition with heated seats, there must be loads out there like that. Look for one with pronav if that's what you're after.
I find the one linked strange, it has heated seats and HK but not the pronav
I bought an M135i new and I specced auto, heated seats, upgraded audio but never specced pro nav.
Any regrets?

7 years in and no regrets, struggling to find a replacement. Of the extras I specced I think mainbeam assist has been fantastic, the handful of times I've used it.... but it was only £150 I suppose. Lumbar support was essential, heated seats and wheel get put on every time I get in, adaptive suspension gets left on Comfort most of the time and I believe is a useful amount more compliant than stock. The HK stereo is okay, not great. Not sure what other "extras" mine had, I got one of the later runs of M135i's so they had a bigger screen, but not as big as pronav, and things like extended storage as standard.

I suppose my only regret was waiting so long to purchase the winter wheels; with 17's on, debadged and 5 doors it flies under the radar, even though it's bright orange.

Out of the car linked,

https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/202302164343807...

And this one (personally I don’t think this looks as clean and the tacky badge on the idrive puts me off)

https://www.esplanade.co.uk/vehicles/used/1019550/...

Which would you choose?
I'd choose the first one (blue) because I prefer the colour and the fact its approved used should mean it comes with a better warranty

I always wonder what people do in their cars when ‘infotainment’ is top of the list, I literally turn the radio volume up and down and that’s it.

You’re right, I’m really over thinking this. I’m coming from a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX with the standard stereo so this will be like a spaceship

I picked up a M140i shadow 3 weeks ago which has pro nav. Does it lift the cabin? Yes. Would I miss it? Probably not. Luckily mine had carplay spec’d from factory and I believe it’s only available on the pro nav system (if you want it coded in after too). It’s wireless too, unlike my previous mk7.5 Golf which was newer! Obviously if you‘re not fussed about carplay then the standard nav is fine.

Make sure you get HK audio though (inc’d in the shadow edition) as the standard system is poor.

As mentioned above, I’d go with an approved example for the warranty. I had a great experience with the dealership I dealt with - they even gave a few goodies on top smile

And oh, it’s a brill car! Puts a smile on my face every time I drive it!

Personally, having heard both, I am not sure I’d pay extra for it!

HK does seem to vary a lot in my experience. The HK system in my 2017 F56 Cooper S was garbage, whereas the HK system in my 2018 F82 M4 and my BILs old 2017 530i is/was really impressive in comparison though I reckon.

When I was buying mine quite a few people said similar, and some were suggesting keeping the money and spending it on aftermarket ICE instead; having heard the HK (but not the standard) it's only "okay" but, no matter what I sling at the stereo, the best sounds come from under the bonnet. cool

HK is not a option I’m bothered about, I’d much rather have the larger screen

Yeah never agree with anyone who claims the B&O / HK system is a 'must' in a performance audi / beemer. I have the B&O and mine and wouldn't lose any sleep if someone swapped it out tomorrow.

Unless you're blasting the tunes out constantly there's really not much difference at low to reasonable decibel levels between the standard / upgraded

Mine is a totally stock, no options, 2019 Shadow Line.

Things I would have liked are heated seats and folding mirrors.

Things that don't bother me are not having the "big" screen and reversing camera.

On earlier models, the smaller screen was much more obviously a "poverty spec" thing, having a big plastic surround. On later cars, the small screen is all "glass", just with the outside edges not lit up. No split screen function, but it's easy to switch between different displays with the memory button. I just leave mine on the trip computer, unless I'm using the nav. Track info and stuff comes up on the cluster display anyway.

It's a running joke on various Facebook groups that a car without professional nav is worth peanuts, as nobody will buy it. In reality, many left the factory in "poverty spec", as they were on lease deals.

Thanks for the insight, I’m with you.

It’s really the resale thing I’m worried about, like you say the internet makes you think a car without is worthless

Surprised at the asking price! I paid £28500 and my car is same age and half the miles which would be less than a grand a year in depreciation!

I bought my car with the extras I wanted, when it comes to trade-in the dealers will not give one penny more for any of the boxes I ticked.

That was similar to when I bought the F56 Cooper S and I put £5k worth of options on it. When I traded it in for the M4 it was just treated as a Billy basic/bog standard car though as you say. I appreciated having the nicer cabin/the options I wanted in it though.
